  1. There has been about a dozen nine page notices from Network Rail attached to the fencing at Lincoln Road and Hurn Road (near the underpass of the A15 bridge) They relate to the compulsory purchase of land around Lincoln Road and the north end of Hurn Road. Each has a plan with a marked area of the parcel of land in question. The maps are old, showing the area before the new railway was built. They show Hurn Road when it was a road, single bridge at Lincoln Road and just the old Joint Line. It seems to me that Network Rail forgot to purchase the land to build the new railway, or maybe it is officially tying up loose ends with Peterborough City Council.
  2. A freight did indeed fail whilst crossing from the Up Stamford to New England yard fouling the Down Fast, Up Fast, Up Slow and entrance/exit from the yards. The only route not blocked was the Down Stamford/Down ECML so north bound ECML services were using that as far as Helpston Junction. I was lucky to be at Cock Lane for a while to video the resulting chaos. If you read the comments section you will see one of my regular subscribers Ben GBRf had something to do with it all.😄
  3. ............and the timetabled 17:10 departure to Lincoln via the dive under from platform 5 was today at platform 2 and went via the overland route at Werrington Junction. That dartboard and wonky darts are still in use it seems!
  4. That is correct, it went passed New England North and that was quoted as No Report so RTT certainly got screwed up somewhere.
  5. Railcam tracked it right so that is why I was prepared for it emerging from the dive under at Cock Lane.
  6. You'll have to keep putting up with my belated videos from Hurn Road, can't have these young Railcam upstarts muscling in on our sacred ground! 😀😀😀 At least they tried their best in the terrible windy conditions we seem to be experiencing more then ever here.👍
  7. You can't always rely on RTT to get it right either.😀 This evening while doing some video, 2K23 used the dive under, Glinton Junction and Marholm Junction so there should be no record of it at Werrington Junction, yet RTT reported it on the Slow Line at 19:43. It did make sense though sending it that way to the west side of the station as it then formed the 20:12 Peterborough to Nottingham via Stamford.
  8. I would think John Lewis had a very big carrot dangled by the way of reduced rent and business rates to open their store in Queensgate. Once that contract came to an end and the greedy burghers hiked the costs the inevitable was bound to happen.
  9. Thank you for starting this as a new thread Mike. Will there be a start on the Station Quarter in this decade? I'm sceptical. There has been so much talk about regeneration to the northern part of the city centre for more years than I can remember and still nothing happens. 30 months ago the local Evening Telegraph reported that spades were going into the ground (July 2021) to start the Station Quarter and here we are still awaiting. https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/people/ps43-million-revamp-of-peterborough-station-could-open-new-gateway-into-the-city-1372906
  10. Thank you Jamie. I'm sure Crun, Richard E and a few other local people who have contributed to this thread have enjoyed watching and documenting this project, but above all it has been the positive feedback from everyone here that has made this such nice journey. We locals were the lucky ones that had this on our doorstep and being contained to a relative small area it was fairly easy to capture all the things going on, perhaps documenting it in finer detail than would have been possible with a much larger project, plus being retired myself and not having work commitments it filled my spare time. To some extent it was a shame that Covid came along and spoiled the party at crucial times of construction, but overall I think we all managed to put together an interesting read.
  11. It is the only booked passenger service throughout the day that is intended to use the dive under. As you have worked out from the timetable there seems to be no logical reason why that particular working should need to use platform 7 instead of the usual platform 1. There are other (non booked) Joint Line passenger services that often use the dive under due to operational problems between Werrington Junction and Peterborough on the Up Slow, mainly due to freight being held whilst awaiting a path into New England yards. As for your particular working on Tuesday there was no blockage on the Up Stamford so why it was routed to platform 1 remains a mystery. I still think PSB use a dart board with a wonky set of darts to choose which route to use next.😀
  12. That's it! it's all over 🥲 Morgan Sindall said they would be finished by the end of June. Here it is, the last building/shed/office leaving the Lincoln Road site which has been Morgan Sindalls temporary home for the past few months.
  13. Yes, I can understand those designations as I am obviously familiar to the area. But as so much of the railways in Lincolnshire have long since been done away with I would have thought that these references would have been brought upto date to suit the modern railway.
  14. Thank you for that piece of info. We all wish that was still in existance!!! Signals in this area are WS, which is Werrington to Sleaford
  15. That is perhaps at bit more than nescessary. I have found that over the years of using Usenet and these new fangled forums that an image with the long side of 1800px is just about right for a 1920x1080 display without having to scroll to see the whole image. YMMV.
  16. I have probably only encountered that three or four times in the past, it did occur before the recent server changes and this is the first time since. I didn't know that, but does RMweb still reduce the image size/resolution after it has been uploaded by the poster?
  17. Andy, is the total amount for images allowed per post still 10mb? Occassionally I get this error message. I was uploading five images, four, 6.14mb in total loaded ok but the fifth image 2.30mb failed to load and produced the above error pop up. The error code is a bit misleading as I had already uploaded 6.14 Solution was, I just shut down RMweb then re-opened and tried again, this time it uploaded all five images to the one post ok.
  18. We have three new street lights installed today, one at Hurn Road.............. ...........and two at Lincoln Road.......... .......professionally secured to the fence so they don't fall over.😀 This sign is next to the railway at Hurn Road at the access point near the A15 overbridge. What I don't understand is the line speed (70/75) quoted on the Up Spalding towards Peterborough which applies to the old flat route to Werrington Junction. From Glinton Junction to and including Werrington Junction is 40, from Werrington Junction where the Up Spalding joins the Up Slow (ECML) the line speed is 65/75. I sure wouldn't want to see a freight train negotiating Werrington Junction from Spalding at 70.😲 All the other line speeds quoted are as lineside signposted. EDIT: WDU = Werrington Dive Under WEB = ? ELR = ? (East Lincolnshire Railway?) Can any one enlighten me?
  19. The field at Hurn Road which held the majority of the spoil from the dive under has now been covered with new drainage (the raised soil lines show where this has been installed), presumably this is to help keep excess water away from the dive under as well as making the field more productive. The Down Stamford/Down ECML Slow is not the neatest piece of track laying but at least it works. The large cabinet above the north portal has had a visit from the spraycan vandals. Magpie and Fox out for an evening stroll. Not a good idea Mr. Fox, you shouldn't be standing in the four foot and looking in the wrong direction, perhaps Magpie is the lookout.
  20. 😀 blimey, you lot worry me, I thought there may be some likes to my observations, but to be actively interested in a 'how to obtain these things'. no, I don't have a red jacket nor was I touting for business 😀😀😀
  21. The exchange of wraps takes place at the foot of the stairs on the west side, just look out for the dealer wearing a long red jacket cycling in from Bretton to do the deal.😎
  22. At this stage it is about creating a balance between making the railway secure from vandalism without having to fully enclose the bridge with solid plate which in turn would make it vulnerable to law abiding citizens going about their normal business.
  23. Please don't think my original comment was aimed towards you Richard. I am greatful like everyone else for the photos you posted but I just don't want to give those graffiti vandals any more exposure that they crave for. I think it would be better using the track with my bike as I feel it would be safer leaving it nearer the compound rather than near the A15. I did walk about 100 yards from the A15 end with my bike a few weeks ago but it was hard going. Leaving the bike chained up is not an option, by the time I have heard the angle grider it would take me half a day to 'sprint' back and the culprits would be long gone. Network Rail could demolish the bungalow and use the land to build a new footbridge that is accessible to everyone rather than just younger and fitter people.
  24. I am not even going to repeat those photos, the whole lot is just mindless vandalism as far as I am concerned, that and litter blighting our neighbourhood and country makes my blood boil.🤬 I have already been back there in an evening with a brush and binliner to sweep up broken beer bottles. About the same distance to walk either way I suspect Richard. Good to see that the bungalow has been cleaned up at last and made more presentable. It just needs some appreciative occupants to bring it back to life.
