  1. It is now over two years ago that work started near Walton footbridge to install an access gate to the roadway that was installed along the west side of the Stamford Lines from Cock Lane. Some before and after photos from my friend Trackside ECML of how things have progressed since. The paved area fenced off, this is 12 March 2021 a few months into the start. The brick wall has been demolished and work is underway to construct a concrete slab. By May 2021 the work had been completed, just tidying up to do. By 12th January 2023, just the tidying up to do! September 2021 12th January 2023, what a mess. September 2021, gravel, hardcore and new kerbstones ready to go in. The only change has been the rubbish bin falling off the gravel heap
  2. Thank you for the link Richard. I was too far in the past looking from a different angle. In 2007 my son was tasked with selling that land on behalf of his client for the use of warehousing. Nothing became of the sale and his prospective customer bought the old Freemans distribution centre at Westwood instead. In 2008 the field had acquired planning for a cold storage distribution centre but nothing ever materialised. If that had been built then it would have been debatable if the new dive under could have been constructed. Looking at the new plans, the proposed data centre building and layout is not dissimilar to the original cold storage building although the land area for the former is somewhat less now since Brook Drain and the railway have been re-aligned. It is also of interest reading the accompanied documents in the planning of how much more detail is put into the different surveys compared to only a few years ago. The Great Crested Newts rear their head again along with tree planting but no one mentions the deer who will lose their grazing grounds.
  3. Interesting that they have a plain top one on the end but don't have a fortyfive degree one to make the end of the second row pretty. I'll have a look in my granddaughters Lego box to see if there are some going spare that I could donate.😀
  4. It's just for the obligatory burger van as far as I know. I have not seen any planning applications for the land, the only hearsay is that Lloyds are developing the site.
  5. More photos of the new bridge install across Marholm Brook off Stirling Way. Entrance gate at the end of Stirling Way. Steel footbridge in the background. Ramp to the main bridge on the Stirling Way side. View from Cock Lane footbridge.
  6. Quite a substantial ramp going in for the (temporary bridge?) to access the field. It seems an expensive way to bridge over what is only a small brook.
  7. Never had a problem viewing photos before, using FireFox. Todays photos don't show at all from Davids post, although judging by the likes etc. some people are seeing them as the screen grab below indicates.
  8. Diversions of ECML traffic have been in place via the Joint Line all weekend due to engineering work at Grantham.
  9. The newly ballasted track at the junction was re-tamped during early Sunday morning. The Up Slow has been out of use since last weekend so it has had nothing running over it to bed it in. During the week a section of track on the Up Slow south of Walton footbridge (somewhere opposite the old Sage's tower) has been lifted to replace a sinking trackbed.
  10. A telephoto lens that would suit your camera well is the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM and at 375g it is very light. I'm in my 70's too so lightness of equipment is paramount when out and about. There are some sample photos taken with this lens in this video of mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_jya1Fy8pg If you look at my Youtube channel in my signature below a lot of clips in the videos have been taken using that Canon lens.
  11. This crossover has been built on-site over the last two nights. It looks to be a replacement for the Down Fast and Up Fast ECML (top left). Is it unusual that the sleepers will span both tracks?
  12. One year on from the dive under becoming operational the overground route gets some long overdue maintenance.
  13. Cropped images are fine when you want to highlight the subject within the original photo and they do indeed reduce the file size as they have removed all the surplus pixels. Many people however want to post their full size photo and may not be aware of how to resize it so they can upload multiple photos in one post. You can reduce image file sizes in many ways without having to resort to cropping using resizing software, many resizing options are inbuilt in image processing software such as Photoshop Elements, Affinity Photo, ADSee Photo Studio, etc. I use some of those just mentioned for processing photos, but I still find they do not reduce the files size sufficiently for my needs. My choice is the free Faststone Image Viewer https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm There are so many options in that program to reduce a photographs file size that I never bother with the commercial software for doing it any more. The original image of the Azuma is 6000x4000 pixels and the file size 10.6mb. This was reduced in Faststone by applying 25% reduction which reduced to file size to 524kb. The whole image is there below, no cropping, no adjustments to colour or anything else, just resized. Faststone is rather an underated program IMO, yes , it is basic on photo editing but for resizing, batch renaming, watermarking, adding text, etc. it is very good and it also plays video files very well.
  14. You are actually better off doing a search for Spalding on RTT as anything going by the overground route at Werrington Junction doesn't get recorded at Glinton Junction. Also just recently on RTT a lot of services on the ECML are only being recorded at Peterborough and Tallington Junction. Timings at the junctions at New England Nth, Werrington and Helpston are not being recorded.
  15. I think this is the last piece of the jigsaw. We have had a few photos and video from Foxcovert footbridge of the back of the new signal P864 but I think this is the first from the front. The signal which is situated between Foxcovert Road and the southern A15 Glinton bypass controls the Joint Up line for Glinton Junction. The old signal which was opposite the new Glinton Junction was removed and the new one installed with quite a lot more electrical cabinets further back towards Folly Bank(Peakirk). It remains the first signal under the control of Peterborough Power Signal Box. The preceeding ones are controlled by Lincoln. The new P864 and associated cabinets. The old signal P864 Not part of the Werrington Upgrade but a landmark that has featured in many photos of the past. The old farmhouse and buildings on the west side of Hurn Road have been demolished. The two buildings in the foreground are in a field much nearer the camera.
  16. It won't be cheap, but once I get a viewing gallery attached to those robust fencing posts and start charging an entrance fee the cash will be rolling in.😀 Railcam, what a great idea.👍
  17. Could it be that the bungalow built in 2018 to replace the old gatekeepers house at Hurn Road finally be coming on the market after being unlived in since 2019? The front and back gardens were cleared a few months ago and now some high soundproof fencing has been erected on the west side facing the railway. 2018 2019 2022
