TBH, given the price point, I am not surprised that the Dongle probably won't work as well on other systems. Though I get that the initial marketing seems to have been a bit over enthusiastic.

The fact that it ties in well with Hornby's own systems (though not the eLite) seems normal enough to me.

In the DCC world, TXS is low end entry point. Like TTS, it is reasonably good at covering a lot of subjects for a lower cost than a full fat high end sound chip. But takes up less space than TTS.  Locos that I thought I would never add sound too, due to space and not really designed with sound in mind (about 80% of my locos were brought between 2003 and 2013) , can be made DCC sound. I can run them adhoc on the layout from my telephone or bring them under full DCC (only 1/3 of my collection will get DCC, the rest runs under DC).

Leaving the high end full fat DCC sound for "preferred" locos where high quality is a must.

I have the Dongle plugged into a Hornby Elite and it's working well - I have not plugged the second one in yet - old Elite's have two ports.

  2. I have a Legacy Dongle plugged in to a Hornby Elite. I have been running loco's fitted with TCS DP2X-UK decoders for some weeks since the dongle was made available - also controlling said loco's from my iPhone - no problems whatsoever. I am not sure how many "controllers" have the Xpressnet socket required to take the dongle.

I had wondered. Evidently even being married to a Spice Girl isn't enough for such an ego. Like him or not, he has managed some remarkable successes, and it would be sad for him to fall from grace through this. But the lady's claim deserves to be aired in full, and any price paid.

It would appear there is a "power struggle" going on at Red Bull at the moment.  This is between the parent company and the racing team. Looks as though Horner is on the way out?????

So it says nothing about what the allegations actually were, but that a Dutch newspaper asked about them.

Sounds like the typical F1 rumours to replace genuine news.

The Times newspaper reported Horner, 50, had been accused of inappropriate behaviour by a female colleague, who complained to the team's parent company.

  5. Call me cynical, but if LH does leave Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season, you can bet your bottom dollar that 2025 will be the year that Mercedes hit top form and are the car to beat.

  6. I have a number of Cobalt Digital iP point motors on my layout that are wired for both DCC and toggle switch operation. All have been working for some years, but one has suddenly stopped working, whichever operational method is used. I know they have a "lifetime" guarantee, and before I jury rig a power/DCC set-up, I thought I would ask if anyone had had a similar problem?

A good job I don’t need one then...I moaned about the price of the Class 117 when it first came out, even though I eventually bought one, but that’s ridiculous.

I bought the Bachmann 31-425A Class 411 CEP 4 Car EMU – BR Green for £64.95 in early 2013, new from one of the large outlets. So even in ten years, that's quite an increase - even if you do get 5p change from £550!

Sorry, that was going off at a tangent, I do have the Hornby Standard Class 2 MT bought at announcement price - so to me - a good deal.

Apologies in advance if this seems like a simple question but I’m looking to model ‘modern image’ and I’m just wondering whether Hornby have released (or looking to release) 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley in its current condition seen on our rails today?

    many thanks

Just released - Kernows (as I am sure others do) have SNG available at £320.99

There is one (Hornby Dublo - Great Gathering) currently on ebay - Buy it Now - but they are asking £450 for it.

  10. It's a nice loco - despite being a few years old. I note from my records that Oliver Cromwell joined the fleet in 2006, William Shakespeare in 2012 and Britannia as recently as 2021 - I had been after a "good" one for sometime, and this one popped up on Ebay.

I I notice that the Deltic is due to be released end of 2024, it was announced in Jan of this year, that is two years.

Hornby have said many times that when they announce, for example, they are making a 2-10-10-2 loco, it will be a minimum of three years before it hits the shelves. The 2-10-10-2 loco was a fictitious example - just in case someone asks or tries to order one.🙄

  12. I thought I read on this forum that Hornby would not be making any announcement of new models in January, as they usually do, but in future would announce new models either when they were on the boat or had actually arrived in the warehouse? The downside to this method, for some, is that the price would not change from announcement to delivery. I just made a huge saving on the 2MT, as I am sure others did, by ordering when it was announced in January 2021.
