  1. A surprising win on eBay - only six bids and left my bid until the last ten seconds - and I won - £92.00 plus free P&P. described as "As new - never run" - box still had factory tissue around it. Average price of others on eBay £167.00.

2/1/2024 - I would add that I have now fitted the loco with a Hornby 21pin TXS Sound decoder, speaker and power bank. It runs very well and sounds tremendous.

  2. Engineer came back today, but could not resolve the problem - says we need a "super booster" - gas meter as comes, is fitted with a booster, which obviously can not transmit through two brick walls and the passageway between the walls.  I am not duly concerned, but it does seem pointless have a visual display sitting in the kitchen which only gives electricity usage. The gas meter does give usage details when you push the buttons on the meter.  So I will still have to give monthly readings with regards the gas usage - not a problem.

  3. We are currently with Octopus and have no complaints. However they have just changed our old smart electricity meter to a new one, and the very old gas meter to a smart gas meter. The gas meter is in the garage, and the visual display module which sits in the kitchen will not pick up signals from the gas meter. anyone else had this problem?

  4. I was in there back in July and the adjoining shop was closed and looked empty. Great service though - I bought a Bulleid coach from their eBay shop and they sent me the wrong one, rather than go through the hassle of posting it back, I rang explained the problem and said I can be with you in twenty minutes - the correct coach was waiting by the till when I walked in. A well lit and well stocked shop.

Great thanks, I now can figure out how it can work. The xpressnet links into the existing command structure within the Select and Elite. I don't use a Select but I do have an Elite so the xpressnet has to link in to the existing software running the Select or the Elite. Now seeing as there are no applications using this at the moment, the only current communication is via USB, how does Hornby know it is going to work? The last update I had on my Elite was over a year ago, so I assume all the Elites and Selects will need updating. I think this could be a long wait. Unfortunately you don't find bugs in software until you use it in earnest so even if the Xpressnet is already programmed in the Elite and Select, I doubt it has been tested much.

I used to write software for this sort of thing linking PCs to test equipment so I can see the pitfalls.

I'm not aware of any upgrades coming for the Elite - currently on 1.45. Don't forget if you have an "old" Elite it will have two xpressnet ports - so you can add more than one dongle.

"Royal Wessex Train Pack" is spectacularly vague. I had to ask Google for details.

Just to update you The Royal Wessex Train Pack (R2599M) was introduced by Hornby in about 2008/9 with rebuilt M/N Lamport and Holt Lines with a 6000gallon tender and three green Mk1 coaches (there was also a coach pack available). Later, in 2011 Hornby introduced the loco with a 5100gallon tender (R2967). I seem to recall the "M" suffix after the "R" number meant it came from another source???

Normally you can just take some things with a pinch of salt, but claiming Marko is not an employee was an outright lie.

The fact he is a director is openly available from Companies House for anyone who wants to check it.

According to what I have just read, you can be a director of a company without being an employee?

  8. The current edition of Cavallino magazine lists the 250LM at $25m, Series 1 GTO at $80m and the Series 2 at $75m.

The car shown is a 1960 Ferrari 250GT Pininfarina rebodied by Drogo.
