  4. Haven't checked in for a while... wheres the caravan gone?
  5. Not sure if anyone has commented on Auscisions latest news about The Ghan and Indian Pacific sets in development but even if I have to go hungry I'm not missing out on these! http://www.auscisionmodels.com.au/The%20Ghan.htm Just wish somebody would do The Overland in SAR days now...
  6. Apologies for drifting away from the OP but I don't even think its a age thing - there is an assumption that "everybody does" Faceache, Twitter, Snapchat (whatever that is), Instagram blah blah..... I'm sorry but the whole social media thing just irritates me. Similarly I've had two days off work and naturally switched off my work mobile - I've just switched it on (God knows why) to find somebody in the office is castigating me for not being "accessible"..Really!! In fact I've not even had the telly on for 3 days - that's the next thing to go... Anyway, sorry Chris - good luck with the business. and I'll check out the market when I can,
  7. Would love to check this out as its local to me but don't do Facebook - and am never likely to.
  8. Thanks for the responses and tips. Looks like I'll have to be quick and snap one up from INVICTA. I actually wanted one of these... http://rapidotrains.com/ho-scale-absolute-rdc-project-notch-8/ but I imagine they were gone before the paint was dry... Plus P+P from Australia is prohibitive - well actually its not "that" bad - its the bl++dy import tax the UK slaps on it that makes it expensive - not forgetting the "admin charge" !
  9. I should of kept abreast of this model and pre-ordered - but I didn't! Where (or how) can one be purchased in the UK? Rapido are at York I believe - I guess asking them to bring one to the show is probably being a tad optimistic?
  10. Just been watchin the Bills v Browns highlights...I'm a Browns fan .. there wasn't any. Again.
  11. I've been watching for a few nights - strange how addictive it is. A couple of things stand out - the train lengths, jeez they're long. And the rocking the freight cars do over the crossing - that cant be acceptable surely? Oh, and the viewing park doesn't seem overly popular at the minute - the poor weather I suppose.
  12. I sort of understand when you mention that more than one hobby can compete for your time. From March till October for me its the garden / greenhouse / seed sowing / propagating etc ... In fact I'm in the garden every day possible. Its only now the layout building is starting. The trick I guess is just to enjoy your modelling in whatever form it takes - once its not fun - stop. I know this isn't railway modelling but I've gotta ask - what kind of planting scheme are you thinking of ....
  13. Thanks for the link Grahame... I didn't even know MRH existed. ....and it free! What a great website and resource . I've spent all morning reading the back issues. I have to say, I think the Americans, in many ways, appear to be a lot more forward thinking in their approach to the hobby than here in the UK.

    Top Gear?

TG wasn't really about cars .. essentially it was about 3 mates who all liked cars and dicking about - which was funny. Evans isn't funny, le Blanc could be and EJ brings nothing to the show. (or any show he's in for that matter - come to think of it that could apply to Evans too) Can you imagine Evans riding a scooter through Vietnam with a colander on his head or driving through South America and popping Viagra ..... no neither can I nor the vast majority of viewers it would seem. Clarkson shouldn't have clocked that producer fella - no excuse for violence in the workplace - having said that in the industry I work in, he would have just "worn one" in return.... end of. It'll last a series ... remember Eldorado!

  18. Just picked up a Trainorama South Australian Railways 830 Class from Bobs Hobbies. http://www.bobshobbies.com.au/ 5 days from order to delivery in UK - great service. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Australian_Railways_830_class Fantastic models - if I had any doubts why I switched from UK OO to Aust HO this model dispels 'em - its superb. For those interested I paid £165.00 inc P&P Better pics tomorrow whens its sunny (!)
  19. Love the C38 Chris. Nearly as nice as an SAR 520 .. I model the SAR in HO.. in the UK - lots of scratch-building required!
  20. I was fortunate to ride on all three RDC 1s delivered to Commonwealth Railways of Australia...so am looking forward to this release - I could even buy the whole fleet!
  21. I see Steve's stand at north west shows quite often ..and very good it is too. Weathering in general is often way over done but Steve's subtle approach is just right IMHO...so much so my stuff will heading his way soon.
