  1. Are you sure that 50mm works out at 1.25mm at 1:32 scale? To me that sounds like it scales up to 40mm. If so, it's a good thing that you scaled up to 1.5mm. Still underscale by 0.06mm, but better than the 1.25 you planned. I'm also on the side of red oxide. It sounds like you plan to effectively show it as a "cutaway", so it stands to reason that one would show the correct colours of the presented sections. It also rings true to the attention to detail you've shown thus far, especially where colour is concerned.
  2. For the lampshades: I cant remember if you used it before, but would a masking solution help with preventing paint getting on the glass sections? For example Humbrol Maskol. Obviously you can't do much until you get a new set, but it's a possibility.
  3. I have order number 2489, first payment/deposit for a King, £67.50. I can't add it directly to the spreadsheet at this time, so I'm hoping some kind fellow could do it for me? If my name is required I can provide that too.

    DJM, the end.

I've been interested in an N scale Austerity pretty much since I got into this hobby back in 2015; I'm under the impression that Dave's plans to make this model surfaced shortly before. Knowing the quoted statistics, it baffles me that there isn't any other version at this scale, discounting the old Graham Farish model. Especially given the rise in popularity for industrial locomotives in the last few years. I'd held up hope that Dave's model would get past the planning stage, but we know that's not happening now. Hopefully somebody else might fill this rather large gap? I believe Dapol are working on/have expressed interest in an Austerity at O scale, maybe they can shrink it in much the same manner as they did their Terrier as part of the process of producing the Rails OO model? Apologies for the thread drift.
  5. I find it strange that the OO ones are available separately, yet the N versions can only be bought as a set. Has there been any official statement about whether they will be made available separately at some point in the future? I only need one of the brake coaches for my preservation era layout, so a full set is expensive and unnecessary for me

It was never mooted, just one of the projects put to one side until funds from other projects (primarily the OO version) started rolling in. I think the O scale version is in doubt, but the N one certainly wasn't. That might change with the recent rise in popularity for O scale.

I only found out because somebody else mentioned that news was being released on the website, I think I read that on the King thread? Every option available in OO is there, including the RMWeb exclusive "65". Until "66" (the last standard gauge steam locomotive made in Britain until Tornado) gets made I'm most interested in Wilbert. I hope it does come to fruition, this is a project that was announced around the time I got into the hobby and have been looking forward to since.
  8. Just to make people aware, Dave is currently only running out of his website, discussion on this is elsewhere. The N gauge J94 expressions of interest have opened, it looks like most of the options offered in OO are available, including NCB 65 which had been an RMWeb exclusive before. I've put an order in for Wilbert
  9. I'm guessing with the carpet, adhesive label sheets won't cut it? It's how I'm planning to face the sides of the viaduct on my layout, but it's much less detailed than this project.

I did mention 66 to Dave a couple of years ago, around or possibly before the first batch liveries were revealed, I can't remember; I recall that it was on the list to be considered for a later batch. I would be very interested if it does become a reality, doubly so if it's released as one of the N gauge models.
  11. Same here, Hotmail put my account creation and order confirmation emails in the junk folder. It must have failed some sort of check, but I have no idea. The strange thing is, the email sent out before that saying to order the Kings, went in my inbox. Weird.
  12. Is there a cut-off date for orders? Or is it a case of when a certain number of models have been ordered?
  13. I've tried this, got a Bulleid coach off eBay, missing a handrail and I enquired whether I could get Commonwealth bogies separately to help with modifying a coach to represent the NRM's support coach 99953. They don't do spares for coaches, locos only it seems.

As woodenhead says, a pannier would be another option. Re the Peckett, if it's a four-coupled example then n-drive productions should be able to help, otherwise if it's a six-coupled example you'd need to look elsewhere and probably use another RTR model as a donor.

To my knowledge, Dave has said that it is still going ahead, it depends on funding coming in from the OO models; plus he is busy with a few other projects at the moment, such as the APT and King, it would come in time. Would it need to be a J94/Austerity? Would kit building be an option? I have seen a few kits out there, including a Peckett with a 3D printed saddle which takes a lot of the effort out of forming it. At the end of the day, this is your layout we're talking about; don't take this as me trying to stop you or turn you away from Dave's work.
