  1. Putting my head above the parapet here, seeing as we now have a decent 0 gauge version, I would like to see a 50 bought up to Acurascale standard, we've yet to get a 00 scale version of the correct shape and after it was first tried by Lima circa 40 years ago! Abit overdue.
  2. Its a cracking looking model. Constructive criticism incoming. What does stand out to me is the half moulded brake cylinders on the bogies, American manufacturers have these as separately fitted, full relief details, it makes so much difference, especially if they went to all that trouble of making a decent undeframe. Bachmann did the same on their 85 and it looks naff.
  3. I've been spoiling for a Heljan 25/3 all this week, shall I or not, looking at pics online from the Rails, Hattons etc. Think Ill bin that idea now!
  4. Look at the nose shape of that!!! Absolutely spot-on and a fantastic achievement that nobody's managed before now. I can still remember being lambasted on this board for criticising Bachmann's effort. "there's nothing wrong with it" I was told. How times change.

    EBay madness

Can anyone shed any light on what this guy is selling?? Seemingly lots of 'unused' Heljan O gauge although I'm not sure what a 'Class 200 49' is exactly, or a 'Class 200 54' etc etc. I have asked, twice , but I get no answer!! Seems a strange way to conduct business! https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/fmc31/m.html?item=114314390572&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  6. I like it, alot! Tone down the rivets around the windscreen frames (they nearly invisible under coats of paint) and it'll be even better!
  7. Purely out of interest, did they correct the problem with the roofs on these 33's??
  8. To my eye, it looks to be an improvement!

  10. Thanks Brian, Ive now sent him a message! I did notice he had some for 009 a few weeks ago, should have bought them then but kept putting it off. Probably more chance there than anywhere else at the moment, so fingers crossed.
  11. Some years ago now, alot actually, I was also abit of an audiophile and Ive spent thousands of pounds over the years on hi fidelity / quality gear like amps and speakers. Al though Ive dabbled in DCC sound for the last 12 years, I am sometimes left underwhelmed when it comes to sound in 00 or H0 models- however! A few months ago, I discovered the sounds of Legoman Biffo and the EM2 speaker, coupled with Lok sounds 'drive lock' feature, all that underwhelming-ness was about to change. Equipped with a pair of DCC ready Bachmann 37's and my small milling machine, I set to work and this is the result- Now, Im going on a theory that could turn out to be correct or wrong, but the speaker in that Deltic above looks very much like an EM2, by my reckoning, the Accurascale Deltic will be an absolute beast in the sound department. They are not messing about with this!
  12. Where can I get Class 50 0 gauge nameplates from guys? Brian/Shawplan seem impossible to get hold of (email or phone) - plus, don't fancy a trip halfway across the country to an exibition for a tenners worth of nameplates if I'm honest and that'll be in 2021 anyway! Fox seem to be out of stock on 90% of them.
  13. Can I ask please, what is the projected delivery date for the 24/1? I know its already been quoted here but I don't fancy trawling through dozens of pages to find it! Thank you chaps.
  14. Hmm, I'm after a pair of 7 mm name plates. Looks like it maybe a challenge!
  15. Right then, I am now at the stage that I need to number my LLB example. I know in the Railtec instructions it says that a shine is good but since the bodyside is fairly satin in finish can I get away without polishing a patch of bodyside or will I be left with an outline where the decal sits? Does everyone spray the whole side with a varnish after applying decals? This obviously depends alot on handling but it wont be picked up and handled by the numbered area anyway. Ive done lots of decalling on 00 and H0 models over the years with great results but any mistakes on an expensive 0 model is making me nervous of jumping straight in to this one! Thank you for any advice.
  16. Thank you for this, very useful info!!
  17. That looks really nice. Any chance you could write up a small tutorial ref cut lines etc? I would like a 40 but would have to do the same as you., the incorrect angle just looks odd.
  18. What is the general go-to supplier of 0 Gauge nameplates these days?
  19. A very nice weathering job there, loving the filth around the exhaust ports! Are those drop steps by the buffers plastic? Is it possible to straighten a little without breakage? They should hang vertical
  20. It would. Take some building though I'd imagine. There's alot of differences.
  21. Crikey! You want to kit bash a £600 model to make a CP1800??
  22. Does anyone know if there are plans to cover the un refurbished versions?
  23. Indeed. Those pointy windscreens (amongst the other numerous issues) on the Heljan example are awful. Really wanted an 0 gauge version but every time I look at it.............na. No way. Yet the Peak is lovely!
  24. Now then, looking at that "fine" specimen, those strange looking bogie side frames ring a loud bell. I remember seeing these for sale in the 80's!
  25. Thanks chaps! That's why it looked very unfamiliar then!
