  1. Attempting to get the Scotsman finished..finally. But, I can not see how the return crank will stay in position on the crank pin. It threads on loosely as supplied, but as the wheel goes around, the return crank will rotate also, and would either get tighter or looser on the pin. I must be missing something.
  2. Can anyone have a "trick" to getting the transfers done correctly? I've gone through 2 sets of transfers for the pony and bogie wheels. Once they slide off the backing, seems impossible to get them onto the wheels without getting them twisted up.
  3. A bit of an assembly conundrum... If I read instructions correctly, the boiler front mounts to the footplate with a screw and nut -the nut being inside the boiler. However, once the smokebox door is fastened in place, how do you disassemble to paint? Perhaps the nut inside the boiler must be expoxied into place? Thanks
  4. Looking for advice on Issue 100. This issue addresses installation of footplate on chassis. But, I can't find mention of what size to drill for the self tapping screws. I can estimate, but if I missed this in a previous issue, I would like to know. Also, the instructions reference 6 holes...2 front, 2 mid, 2 rear, but it seems that there is no place mid -chassis to fasten the footplate to the chassis. The footplate, whatever it is made of, is darn near impossible to drill through...I am tempted to tap these holes and use standard machine screws. Any bits of wisdom here will be appreciated.
  5. I am searching for Issue 77 or 78 for the Hachette Flying Scotsman . This part of the valve /drive gear. I have had no luck with EBAY UK or US search. Can anyone recommend a source? Thanks

Thanks for allowing me to join this .It has been fascinating to see that true modeling of individual pieces is far mor active in the U.K. than here. Actually working on an O Gauge Hachette Flying Scotsman( the one sold as a magazine subscription), found on Ebay and delivered from Tasmania. The materials and instructions are good quality. Also, found a Blacksmith models Clerestory coach. This one is a mystery. There are some strange parts that defy identification The instructions are minimal. Can anyone point me to a link that would provide me with a bit of wisdom on this? Is there a more specifc location on this site that I should be searching? Thanks.
