  1. Bit of a blow for me too, just when I was getting to know how to use DraftSight. DaveC
  2. Looking very nice - then I do like black locos of NE origin. DaveC
  3. So am I, it would be nice to have a good ready to run Austerity tank
  4. Bob the Builder and Ray the painter have been working on a goods shed for Sheffield 0 Gauge Group's layout Abbeydale Junction. The building isn't yet finished, it is in need of a roof. While it is off the attention to detail can be seen. Hope people appreciate the work that has gone into the making of the goods shed. DaveC (ex Chairman Soggies)
  5. Guild summer exhibition. First Saturday in June (2nd) at Doncaster dome. It is on the guild website. There will be layouts and many traders. DaveC
  6. No Progress on the 7mm locos for a long time Pity, I am looking forward to the Austerity tank. DaveC
  7. These look really nice. Any chance of these in 0 gauge? DaveC
  8. Any chance of a 7mm Austerity in the near future? DaveC
  9. Nick Dunhill had a thread on building a Terbomotive on here in the 7mm section and on his facebook pages. It may have pictures of the completed painted loco. Hope that helps. I may be able to get a photo from the owner - a fellow Soggies member. DaveC
  10. Not at the moment. We are having a big push to rewire. The fiddle yard points was operated using rotary wafer switches. These also switched the current and some have burned out due to the high current demands of some members locos - we blame double heading with Helgan Diesels. The wiring is also having to be upgraded to cope with the current demand particularly when switched to DCC. You might have noticed that the back scene is on the out side of the layout, that would need to come off for exhibition. We are looking at another 2 years to complete the layout. If you were to be in the Sheffield area and wanted to see the layout, we meet Friday evenings and have a working session on a Wednesday afternoon. DaveC
  11. Being wired for both. The club has a mixture of DC and DCC locos. Each of the circuits will be switchable. Currently we have access to one borrowed DCC controller. We will be building MERG DCC controllers. DaveC
  12. I gather that it is not available without the DCC chip, but will run DCC or DC. The main advantage being the stay alive capacitors which will help it over point work without stalling. I've ordered a DCC sound fitted one even though at the moment I run DC. DaveC
  13. Sorry they are the correct way up in my photo viewer on the computer but not in GIMP so I now know why and have edited them. DaveC
  14. Sheffield 0 gauge group have been building a new club layout. I thought I'd post s few pictures and a bit of video (no success in uploading video) to show where we have got to now that the back scene is going in. The trackwork is hand made from C&L components on Slaters ply sleepers for the main running section. The hidden sidings are Peco track and Markway points. Sorry some of the photos came in upside down - sorted in Gimp and reattached. DaveC soggies
  15. I'm also interested in an 0 gauge Andrew Barclay (or two). My industrial layout has got as far a baseboards. Just need a bit of time to start modelling and Industrial scene. DaveC
  16. Nice to see the really tidy wiring. Note to self, when I get to wiring must try harder to make it tidy. DaveC
  17. Welcome to 0 gauge modelling. The Gauge 0 Guild website has a stock list for the Executers and Trustees Service (sells stock for the estates of members who have died) Lima locos do come up on there fairly regularly. There isn't one at present, but there is a Triang BigBig Hymec at £35. It could be worth keeping an eye on the stock list as it gets updated from time to time as more stock is valued. eBay may be your easiest source of a lima 33 in the short term. Best regards DaveC

    Ask Dave

Makes a lot of sense to me. We'll all just have to get our orders in in good time so you know what size the market is. Hoping for 0 gauge locos before too long. DaveC
  19. Mike, What a useful tutorial. I've just started with Inkscape and the tutorial is helping considerably. One suggestion, could the tutorial be made into a contiuous guide without the other postings? Many thanks DaveC
  20. Don't take it off the template. I did that with my first point and it went out of shape - more a Y than anything until I took the curved out and re-jigged it all again on the template. The paper from the template is sufficient to to hold the point in shape.
