  1. Hi,

Not sure if you will get this message or not, never tried to contact anyone before.

I was going through your building of the Hachette Flying Scotsman and you mentioned that the Crank pin threads were undersized which I have just found out.

Can you advise how you overcame this problem?

I would also like to say what a brilliant job you did on building it.

    Ade

  2. Sorry I should have mentioned that I put the model together with super glue.
  3. Hi, I want to continue with a brass and white metal loco kit that I started a number of years ago. Some of it is ready to be painted but the problem I have is the brass has tarnished quite badly and needs to be cleaned up prior to painting. It has a lot of small and quite delicate parts and is difficult to use wet and dry to clean it up. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.
  4. Thanks. I didn't know if any model shops / suppliers may have this sort of thing.
  5. Hi, l need to replace the brass guard irons supplied with the Hachette Flying Scotsman. If anyone can tell me where I might be able to buy some that would be great, thanks
  6. Hi, I have used acrylic paints. Once completely dry I will spray with acrylic varnish, which I assume protects the paint. Can you advise how many coats I should apply? Thanks
  7. Great, thank you for replying, much appreciated.
  8. Hi all, I'm building the hachette flying scotsman and have come to the painting stage and would really appreciate some guidance on the preparation and painting techniques as I have never painted a model before. Thanks
  9. Thanks for your help. As this is purely a static model I will find a way around the problem. I just wanted the valve gear to work properly.
  10. Hi guys, some help would be much appreciated. I'm in the middle of fitting the valve gear, i've fitted the return crank at 15 degrees forward of the centre line of the wheel as instructed but when set at that its very loose on the Crank pin, not sure if that's normal and secondly when the loco is moving should the return Crank go all the way round or just backwards and forwards? This is my first kit build and its far from straight forward lol. Thanks Ade
  11. The footplate sits ok, its the front and rear drill size that I need for the self tapping screws. I don't believe there is a centre fixing, well as far as I can see anyway.
  12. Hi, did you ever find a solution to attaching the footplate to the frame as I have the same problem?
