  1. Summer at Corwenna Clay Dries. This model at Beaconsfield show this Saturday.
  2. A couple of images which you may find of interest. After the excitement of the previous weekend's railtour, 68006 returns to collect the remaining wagons from the line on Tuesday May 2nd 1967 becoming the last ever steam working over the C&HP.
  3. 31145 at Nine Elms in 1960. Other locos in the picture are available in RTR, if you can find them.
  4. In the days before storms had names, the first snow of the winter down at the quarry on the Malham branch sees activity from the resident Peckett and 43924 departing with a ballast train.
  5. Oxford Rail's J27, with replacement chimney and dome from Dave Bradwell, looks at home on a train of mineral wagons in some Pennine scenery.
  6. Completed a conversion of 65817 to the preserved example 65894. Thanks to Porcy Main for advice on removing boiler fittings, replacements from Dave Bradwell.
  7. Hate to interupt the local banter but heres a snap of 65817, in "out of the box" condition. Well worth blackening the wheel tyres and centres though. Since been fully coaled !
  8. Thanks Les, identifying locations from my three brief visits to the North East 55 years ago is not without difficulty. Certainly not the first time I have been wrong, but I always welcome corrections and a bit of local history. I was however aware of the difference between Geordies and Monkey Hangers !!
  9. A couple of pics of the real 65817 looking rather less than "out of the box". Getting away from a signal check at Hartlepool.
  10. I assume you have changed the dome (and the chimney ?) Where did you obtain the B1 style dome ?

Are there alterations to be made to the cab interior control ? I hope to convert 65817 to 65894.

I have already had to sell on the early crest model as I hadnt noticed the dirrences in boiler bands etc.

Rather more coal than the Oxford model - and a mashing can on the backhead !

This is my favourite:  https://flic.kr/p/FEKxtQ. Did you take it?

To get the chimney/dome off: Mine was very well glued so it was body off and use a punch to tap them out. Both chimney and dome are located in their respective recesses by two spigots. Carefully tap directly on the spigots.

The boiler moulding is very thin and delicate at the mating surfaces so you need to tread carefully. If you have any cyano debonder  (I didn't) it might be worth applying some to the joints and letting it do its stuff.

Thanks, will take it gently. Yes I did take the shot at Burradon.

  11. Steam and diesel at Sheep Pasture More C & HP pictures on https://www.flickr.com/photos/124047467@N05/albums/72157715330931872/with/15143747961/ including several of the last ever steam working in May 1967.
  12. Does Oxford have any plans to bring out a variant with the lower dome and LNER chimney as the preserved example and majority of the last survivors carried.
  13. Hi Andy, just finally managed to sign up after several attempts over the months, but would prefer not to use my real name. Perhaps you could change it to Ficksberglion. Thanks in anticipation.
