  1. yes quite right, mistype by me
  2. Thanks for the comment. Yes that's right, it's sort of morphed into a diorama and with hindsight I would have even less railway. These tracks are a legacy from a larger layout begun many years ago (and in another country!). I am not a great engineer and there always seem to be niggling problems that spoil my enjoyment of operating, I guess that's one of the main reasons people join club; to share skills.
  3. Wow, very cruel enlargement!
  4. I needed something for the front of the Clerkenwell board which wouldn't obstruct the view and hide other models so I knocked up Alderman's Row, an abandoned burial ground of a long lost church.
  5. I am taking a break from the bank but have made an Aldersgate summary video here while I take stock
  6. Those who have been kind enough to take interest in my two decades of modelling the Aldersgate project might like this video update. Apologies for the ramshackle camerawork at times!!
  7. Plenty of odd angles to fill in on the roof, hours of fun! Upstairs windows "offered up" to get a feel of how they will look. (apologies for anyone who feels this is one up from watching paint dry)
  8. Flat roof installed as a base for the complicated mansard roof, a few desultory customers lurking in the banking hall, more detailing, more to come!
  9. quick photo update The balcony is made from a plastic bottle neck. Some basic internal features and some shadowy figures will be the limit of what will be modelled internally.
  10. ...... here's some shots that illustrate where I am trying to get too. The building next to the bank is a model inspired by the now demolished Harwich House at Liverpool Street
  11. So I've go as far as fitting the windows along the main side of the building. Since this is semi relief, there's only the thin section to go which is the entrance. I'll assemble it as a wedge shaped structure with two blank sides and start work on the entrance.
  12. since you've finished, I don't feel like I'm hijacking, here's my pub(s)
  13. Rather late to the party but just a quick message of support and admiration. Excellent stuff! Andrew
  14. Some initial photos of my semi relief model of what is now the NatWest bank in Aldersgate Street which will be part of the City area of the Aldersgate Layout. Usual hairy modelling from yours truly which is a product of the old school way I work and increasingly dodgy eyesight. Hopefully it will have charm at least and look ok from a normal viewing distance.
  15. I'm going to close off this topic now although there's more that could be done on Zetland (e.g.putting a name over the door), I'll do no more until I bed it in with other buildings in the area. I am some way off that yet. So to close off here's some shots of the building in situ although I haven't finalised its neighbours yet.
  16. Just stuck a bunch of buildings together roughly but shows where I am heading. The tracks are underneath the warehouses!
  17. As usual as the end of one building comes into sight, I start on the next: Natwest Bank in Aldersgate Street by the City of London museum!
  18. Detailing continuing. These chimneys seem to have taken about an hour!
  19. I know I could buy something better but where's the fun in that? These are bits of wooden chopsticks and scrap tubes.
