I'm sure I can find something else to do that day. I know, I'll delegate it to Terry....😅

The Stafford Railway Circle will be holding its Spring Show on Saturday 20th May. A showcase for club layouts, some of which are new to the circuit. An opportunity to come and see what we are doing and to mingle and converse with like minded people. See https://www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/stafford-spring-show/ for details.

This one seems to have got lost below the radar. A show that encompasses the atmosphere of a Victorian pumping station with a model railway and engineerring show. See here: http://www.claymills.org.uk/

I was going through my DCC box the other day and came across this. There is no brand/ID on it. The only thing written on it is CONTROL 9. Presumably it is a stationary decoder of some sort and an ID would be useful. Anybody any ideas?

In association with the Stafford Railway Circle there will be an exibition showcasing members' layouts on Saturday 18th June at Berkswich Methodist Church Hall, The Rise, Stafford, ST17 0LH. Full details here: https://www.staffordrailwaycircle.org.uk/stafford-midsummer-model-railway-exhibition/ Please note: this is not to be confused with the main Stafford show in September!

Sorry if anybody has already raised this (nothing came up in a search) - I recently invested in a Roco DR BR106 shunter. According to the "drawing" in the instructions it appears that it has a factory fitted speaker for DCC sound. I haven't mastered how to take the cab off yet for fear of damaging so I'm wondering if anybody knows the answer. It has a Plux 22 interface which, again, according to the instructions, has pins for the speaker connections. Thanks in advance.

The turnouts were medium. I say "were" as the layout was sold a couple of years ago. For my latest see "Catsfield" in November 2021 BRM magazine and "Rushwick", very similar to Ashbourne, in the September 2021 BRM.

Without wishing to hijack Andy's thread, here are a couple more pictures of Catsfield (note correct spelling Andy! ). I really must get round to putting a thread up myself...

Intersting. Any chance of a scan so I could see them? -
Cholsey & Moulsford (Change for Wallingford)
Northpoint replied to Nick Gough's topic in Layout topics
I will be another one watching with interest as I was born in Wallingford and my maternal grandfather was a signalman at Cholsey in the 1950s and 60s. I spent many hours up there with him when I was a young trainspotter. There is a video on Youtube (tried to find it but couldn't!) documenting the last train from Wallingford in 1957(?) which might be of interest. There was a Wild Swan book on the Wallingford branch which had historic photos and diagrams for Cholsey station. Out of print now probably but no doubt available through used book suppliers. Good luck with the project. -

Midland Small Layout Showcase, Armitage, Staffs - Sat June 8th

Thanks you all for your feedback. Judging by the comments here and from visitors at the show, everybody had a good day. As usual, I have to thank everybody involved - exhibitors, traders, helpers and visitors - because without any of you, it wouldn't be a success. I was a bit concerned early on as for the first time since I started organising shows (TVNAM in 2010), there was no queue outside the door at 10 o'clock! Given the foul weather, I suppose it's not surprising. Anyaway, the numbers did pick up later and looking at the figures, the show didn't make a loss and there might be few pennies lef tin the piggy bank to consider it again next year. Here are some photos grabbed when I had a chance to go round: Once again, many thanks to all and watch this space re next year...- 52 replies
