  1. Thanks Alan! I've already invested in a terminate colony, should be here Tuesday! In the meantime I've just prized open my Farish (china) 37 (prior to retooling) The bogies are just the ticket, the later build (in the ink you posted) uses cardan shafts from the motor rather than a worm drive that Poole built locomotives used. In theory, it shouldn't be too hard to knock up a chassis in plasticard - there's even a possibility the dummy base plate https://www.shapeways.com/product/UX9URZCNY/ns-1500-and-em2-chassis-n-gauge-1-148-and-1-160?optionId=65806786&li=marketplace which I bought for the underfloor gubbins could be used as a starting point I guess. 2. All, I recently purchased a 1:160 scale NS Class 1500 (EM2) body from Shapeways. However given the locomotives size (being UK loading gauge) none of my existing NS locomotive chassis fit. The axle centres and wheelbase of the Startrain 1300 are a very close fit. However the width of the chassis is about 4mm too wide - Milling the chassis down isn't an option. I have attached an annotated picture of the dimensions required for the power chassis. Any help or knowledge of N gauge chassis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Giles
  3. Has just dug a chisel into my finger and painted the kitchen red

  4. Think the nickname "betty" is a bit erm Rubbish to be polite. You have the most powerful loco in the UK yet it has a very girly name. it would be like nicknaming a US Aircraft Carrier "Chi-Chi" and everytime someone mentions "Betty" I just think of Frank Spensor! It's not an ideal nickname for a loco: if it wer human it would punch you in the face, steal your girlfriend, your car then marry your mother - Not sit knitting in a nursing home. I do recall howmany nicknames were bandied around when the 67's first appeared some rather elaborate before everyone settled to call them "skips" Anyway found this on t'web earlier and think that the 70's may have had the headlights manufactured in Sandbach! http://estb.msn.com/i/27/CAEEBAB1E2B0E03654C22B8EE6BD41.jpg Seasons Greetings, Giles
  5. Well these are the fruits of what was first annouced as project Genesis. should have been called Phil Collins, However I see Bachmann have annouced that they will be making these in N and OO
  6. Funnily enough. I managed to get and see our local "Elephant" down at Stoke Gifford on Sunday morning - It does sound like an ice cream van (thing was on tickover). it looks a lot better in real life than in pictures (depending on angle) and is quite impressive and a brake from the norm. the front would have been better if it was flush (like a 67) but on the whole it's not bad! looking forward to getting it on a tour now!! Giles
  7. Have you remembered the number of the wessex 150? had a stab on fotopic last night and couldn't find owt. ta Giles

  13. First I must start with saying "it's my birthday" which means I must wish Mrs Dagworth a happy birthday too. So what happened last week - I went to Cardiff for a few drinks on Saturday with the Rachel, Pixie, Rich, Matt and Aled, Watched the Ospreys just beat Clermont on Sunday (from the bar down the road, sadly not from the stands at the Liberty) and drew up a table of the Basic "important" items of stock/token trains needed for Newport - if anyone feels that I've left one out for the 2003 era please comment: so far I've devised. - [Not very exciting or informative but using 3 different PC's I can keep my notes all in one place to access anytime] Central Trains 156 Regional Ex 158 CT 170 CT 158 CT Arriva Trains Wales/Wales & Borders/Valley Lines 158 W&B 142 ATW 150 ATW 142 VL 153 ATW 158 ATW Wessex Trains 158 Wessex Alphaline 158 Wessex Alphaline 143 @ Bristol 150 WX vinyl 150 WX vinyl 150 RR - stand in First Great Western HST "fag packet" HST "barbie" HST Mixed "F&B" HST Mixed "F&B" Virgin Trains HST VT 220 VT 4-CAR EWS Steel covered 1 x class 66 1 x class 60 Steel Coil 1 x class 60 1 x class 56 Steel Ingots 1 x Class 56 1 x class 66 MGR HAA 1 x Class 66 1 x class 56 MGR HTA 1 x Class 66 1 x Class 66 Murco 1 x Class 60 Postal PCV + Super GUV 1 x Class 67 Mixed Steel 1 x 09 F.Liner Liner 1 x Class 57/0 Baglan Bay LPG 1 x FL Class 66
  14. Why haven't you joined the honey badger collective? I'm very disappointed in you!

  15. At the moment it seems that everything is all go and work is quiet. so here I am with no time to do any more modelling. When I get home in the evening I have to do all chores before 9pm before I collapse in a heap on the floor and can't do anything which followed up with a bad nights sleep and a rolling snowball of tiredness! Luckily there is somthing that I get during my working day called Break time. This is where all the theory work (drawing/ head scratching/ Planning for Newport happens) My job also generates a lot of scrap paper which I store for my daily doodles. Todays doodle is the construction of H,G & D Boards (these are in sequence and would be labelled H1,G2,D3) which stand for Hillfield, Godfrey and Devon. to correspond with area/s roads which feature on Newport. Luckily a perk of my job is we have a good quality scanner/photocopier which if asked can email people documents that you have scanned. So here is my doodle, Ok so I've pinched the idea slightly from the Baseboard on Ravensclyffe. However rather than having a lower deck for track. this area will be for controller/tea/beer storage or "safe space" also acts as protection for point motors and underboard gubbins. I've yet to design the legs which will proabley be fold out with adjustable feet on the bottom. This will all slot inside a packing case per board to protect the lot - Another Idea pinched from Andi! I run out of time at lunch today to complete board 4 (usk) - Which is the main reason for a two tier baseboard. As mentioned previously on Old RMweb that the hillfield section of the layout will not only have a backscene but a front scene which will hide the backs of houses (and protect the layout from wandering hands!)
