  1. I don't get the argument about locals not being able to get on the housing ladder in Devon / Cornwall. It's really quite simple , get off your backside , move to where there is work and save enough to eventually move back and buy something local to where you grew up . I had to do it and numerous other people I know have done it . Everywhere I've worked , (all over the UK and a lot of Europe) there have been people doing the same . I've always worked with a mix of Scots , Irish ,Welsh and Northerners . Don't really have see why the people in Cornwall can't do the same if reasonably well paid jobs are scarce. I'm seriously thinking of buying somewhere in Devon , no doubt I'll be slated for doing it but .....I don't really care ...in my view you make your own luck in life , if people can't be bothered that's their outlook. Sorry , off topic.
  2. Blue and grey MK3 HST trailers .....please Oxford ....I've got money burning a hole in my pocket waiting for 7 Western and 8 eastern ones .....
  3. Fair enough ...I'd be pretty fed up with more junk mail too .
  4. I suppose it's his money to use as he wishes politically and they are his establishments to push his views in , so really he can can do as he pleases . If someone doesn't like this or his views , they can leave the premises and/or ignore them , that's our perogative as customers. In my view at least its HIS money and not the government issued , taxpayer funded leaflet that fell through my letterbox a few years back extolling the wonders of the EU.
  5. I am unable to give any information on the locos etc but can I say , what a great picture , Oozes atmosphere !
  6. That's a great picture of D15 at Temple Meads , love the shed plate on the nose doors and if I'm not mistaken Holbeck painted on the buffer sleeve . Never seen that before .
  7. I don't want to stir up a hornets nest here but I'm really not seeing much difference between the pictured real and model fronts of the locos . I don't want to go down the "it looks ok to me" route for an argument but the real loco seems to have a curve under the windows and so does the model . Am I missing something ? I Have already pre ordered one of these anyway. Like Funitmad says , they did look good in LLB.
  8. Brown and white cables fitted to different terminals in the multiplug ? ( I may be totally wrong ! ) Beautiful car by the way one of my favourites .... Remember spending ages admiring one parked next to an ISO Griffo at the Italian car club day at brooklands some years back ......now which one would I have......???? What a dilemma !
  9. Burt Reynolds was actually a fine actor , he was excellent in Deliverance and was superb in Boogie nights and Sharkey's machine . To be fair though he made some absolute shockers too. Shame he's gone RIP.
  10. Clive , well done mate for the nursing ....not something I could do . My wife snapped her humerus clean in half a year or two ago and we spent 6 hours overnight at Royal London hospital casualty while she was sorted .......my god I've never seen anything like it ......how they retain staff I'll never know , it actually made me feel sad that society can be so shite . NO ONE should have to work in those conditions...but thank God some decent people are able to. I reckon I'd be in prison after one nightshift. I'm on holiday right now , all inclusive, and some British people are just awful to the local staff who to be fair are really trying hard. I mean it's pretty poor when a 20 something stone man is screaming at a tiny local girl because his chips were cold ..... thankfully a few of us including his mortified wife told him to shut up . I just can't understand it ...I was brought up better than that and hope I'm bringing my two up better . Apollo ....your words of thanks DO matter to the cabin crew !
  11. If you really want to see the general public at their best, talk to airline cabin crew .....what those guys and girls put up with is astonishing. I couldn't do it if I was offered double my money . One of the girls years back said to me " most are OK but the bad ones are vile " , this just after having had been spat in the face. I don't understand how normal rational people can turn into a###holes when talking to service industry staff . On another note, my wife works in banking and can't stand women bosses , has no trouble with the male ones though ........maybe I should be worried...
  12. Best odds I've had were on the early England bet I had before it started at 16-1 to win the tournament. At the same time I got 11-2 for France to win ...so I had both ... hence me wanting France v England final.I not sure on what I've got on the France v England final with Sterling to score as my mate has put it on for me and I won't pick the coupon up till tomorrow..... I'll report back tomorrow and see if it was worth bothering with after tonight's action !!
  13. My view is as follows ...... England 3 Croatia 1 France. 3 Belgium 2 England 3 France. 2 AET with Sterling to score. .......well that's how my bets are !!! I just want an England v France final ......
  14. I agree with the comment made by hobby above. Sterling offers far more to the side then just goals , the Sweden defence was in a real mess when he was running at them , and he took two defenders away from the rest of the attack , I accept his finishing should have been a lot better but I reckon when he does hit one in it might be the catalyst for him to go and get some more. I wonder what the odds are on sterling to score in the final.......
  15. One of the most attacking assured England performances I've seen in a long time , such a turnaround after the first Tunisia game .... Pickford was outstanding ... I put £5 on England to win at 16-1 a couple of weeks before the world cup started for a laugh .... doesn't seem like a joke now .
