RAY NORWOOD
Progress on the shed. I have made some progress on the engine shed. I have finished three sides, I have the front/ front and back of the repair shed, and two sides of the office, stores, mess room, toilets to do. I have made this with 60th and 30th Plasticard. I marked everything out on to 60th card, then cut to shape and windows out then glued strips of 30th on the sides in layers for the supporting walls. This is the in side of the shed but out side of the repair shed. This is the same part but turned over to see the other side of the shed but will be the back wall of the office, stores, mess room, toilets. and inside of repair shed. I have put in the supports and horizontal for the lifting crane. Here is the back of the shed with opening for double doors and three windows. This is the left side of the shed, it will be the back of the scenic side.

RAY NORWOOD
Long awaiting Update on the Shed. I have brought the board that the shed will go on indoors from the garage so I can work in the warm. I have started putting the four sides together and check if it fits in place. The four sides are now glued together and it fits nicely in place. Putting in the roof trusses. Made from Plastruct H girder 2.5mm, and the little squire plates are of 10mm Plasticard. Two rows put on, one more to do. I made the trusses on the drawing I done for the shed, placed on a bit of wood and used pins to hold the girder in place. Two pictures of two of the finished trusses. I still got loads more work to do.

RAY NORWOOD
I covered the hole thing with ash, using PVA glue then sprinkling the ash through an old tea strainer onto the glue. when dry I brushed off the lose. I then airbrushed with light grey and dark grey light browns and black. I am not quite happy with the colour. I would like to do a bit more work with the airbrush. When I have done the outside I will start doing the detailing inside, but first I need to put the windows in place and do the chimneys on the small building. As you can see it is a lot lighter. Still got to do the chimneys on the small building. Not a good photo it come out blured Still got more work to do on the small building. I will post some photo's when happy with the paint work.

RMweb Premium Neal Ball Posted December 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2016 That looks great. Hard to think that by the time we moved to Feltham about 1977 it had all gone. I seem to remember the clock tower was still standing but not much else.
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted December 18, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 18, 2016 Looks good, but as you suggest, does look too dark. A light misting should tone that down, but will leave the darker areas in the corners, which will look good. Getting on with the windows for you .....

I believe the clock tower is still there, but all the yard is over grown with weeds and trees.

RAY NORWOOD
Update on the shed. Progress is coming on slowly. The roof and chimney is made of 40thu Plasticard. The roof has ribs on the top is of 10thu x 1mm wide set at 15mm apart and the over hanging lip on top is again 40thu x 5mm. The glassing on the front is polycarbonate with 10thu x 1mm strips at 10mm apart. Office block and roof plus chimney is not glued in place as yet. The office block I have put leds in and now is just waiting for windows. The chimneys is of 40thu Plasticard with brick embossed card around it, on the top is strips of brick emboss card cut in various widths start with one wide then a bit smaller and so on. Mudmagnet is doing my window frames for me, so I will be starting fitting them in very soon.
