Todays update.

Earlier I showed you how I cut the sleepers, Know I have stained the sleepers with Ronsel Wood Stain with a drop of metallic silver in a tin container and gave a good stir. I then put few in the wood stain give them a stir then I picked them out with tweezers and spread them out on newspaper to dry, carried on till they are all done.

This is what I have from what I have done yesterday. Still got more to stain.

Morning Ray, I agree with George, its progressing well and Shed Layouts give somewhere nice to show off your prized possessions. I exhibited West Shed last weekend in Ex SR BR with a selection of Bulleids etc. and I also have some Midland stock so I can ring the changes. I went to the Weston on Trent show with BR Blue Sound Western Region Diesels.

This should be a real crowd pleaser at Shows mate, well done so far.

EDIT = Just realised I totally missed Page 2, so just caught up again.

Made a start on building the track work, threading the chairs onto the rail is very time consuming and tedious, the first rail I followed the templot plan and the second rail I used my gauges. The point I followed the C&L instructions that I downloaded from there website, I have an old couch bogie I use to check the clearances but first I checked the back to backs on the wheels. I have done this on Yard Shunter when I built the track work on that.

Just two rails to put down and the shed roads done but I run out of chairs, that was 1000 chairs gone on this little bit of track. (Roll on father Christmas)

Long way to go Ray if you leave any tools behind, hahhahah.

I must admit I do like to see Work in Progress Layouts at Shows and I think there should be more of them. At our Clubs open Days, its ALWAYS work in progress.

Todays Update

Been doing some work on the track again, all the track work into the shed has been done and know working on the exit road and the coal wagon siding for the coaling stage, there are two points along here. Still got the check rails and switch blades to do.

post-3746-0-15884200-1451503838_thumb.jpg

Its a pains taking job threading all the chairs on the rails.

This rail is to go from the turntable to the point on the exit road, there are fifty three chairs, and the red cable is the dropper to go onto the bus wire soldered under the rail so it will be hidden.

Todays Update.

I have finished building the track work. I have to do the blade stretchers for the points, they are from Ambis Engineering, and do the droppers for the frogs. Just have to do the fiddle yard.

Here some pics of the track.

Ray

I will be interested to see how you get on fitting the Ambis stretchers, as I have struggled when I have attempted to fit them.

SS

Hi SS

Yes they are very fiddly with big fingers. This is what I have done this morning. I used plasticard for the bar and super glued to the Ambis Stretchers, I also got brass wire to link up to the point motor. I used tweezers to hold the stretcher up so I can solder to the point blades, got to be quick with the iron.
