RMweb Gold Corbs Posted May 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 12, 2019 (edited) Is the super-banker not the U1 and Big Bertha pictured above, where the LMS Garratt was on the front of the train? I've never seen a pic with those two and a 9F as well. Quote Here's a video of 34046 Braunton shoving its unrebuilt cousin 34067 Tangmere up Exeter Bank, courtesy of Great Western MGM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUKqptpdLgc I read somewhere that the conditions on the banker were pretty awful in the tunnel! EDIT: In fact it was earlier in this thread, doh.. Edited May 12, 2019 by Corbs

I was on the footplate of 34046 and it wasn't a particularly stress free experience. I won't go into detail (what happens on the footplate stays on the footplate) but we nearly stalled, however we just about got away with it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W3ydiFLS3sc I've just found this thread; great stuff. I remember this run, I was videoing on the bridge at Central. Listening to the exhaust, particularly in the tunnel, it sounds lime there's a valve out. Every sixth exhaust beat is a hiss.
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted August 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2020 (edited) A quick trawl through Dad's photos brings up this lot. The two S&D ones are of the front and rear of the same train. The Ledbury photo has the tunnel banker waiting for the next job, so it's not exactly exerting itself. RMweb Gold Corbs Posted October 31, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 31, 2020 Seen on Facebook today, in 1999 45110 ascends the Lickey with a helpful shove from 80079. Lovely to see it dropping off at the summit. 4

At the AVR galas, goods trains are often banked from Avon Riverside to Bitton. I was lucky enough to get a ride in the TOAD while L.150 did some work. Nice and noisy. That is definitely a climb, I run along the track alongside the railway, it's hard work especially with the usual crosswind!
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted November 15, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 15, 2020 Not technically a banking video, however I do love a Goodrington Bank rescue. Here we see a GWR 2-8-0T come to the aid of a stalled SR 4-6-2. The rescue arrives at about 6m55s - caution headphone users, it is loud.

w124bob
Can anyone help with the Lickey target numbers carried on plaques on the lamp brackets? I've spotted several in clips from the late 50's era on Jinty's and 94xx but wasn't quick enough to see them properly, looked like F11 and F16 in at least a couple of freeze frames. I also couldn't see anything for the 9f.
