The FT loco has been converted to battery power by swapping the wires to a longer lead that joins to 4 AA batteries in the wagon. I really loved those FischerTechnik trains as a kid. Although I had quite a lot of the standard stuff, I never got any of the trains. Nearholmer
That is a stroke of genius - if ever I build a new/replacement layout, that idea will get shamelessly stolen.

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 9, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 9, 2019 (edited) Another nice buy on eBay. This is the 1637 set from 1972 with a battery powered steam engine and it’s only missing the plastic inner tray. The loco was advertised as not tested and it doesn’t currently work as the battery contacts have corroded through so they will need replacing. Hopefully an easy fix as long as the motor is ok as the drive is complete. Considering I got it for less than some almost scrap locos and it also included another bogie wagon and lots more track I’m very pleased especially as I didn’t have this battery version. Apart from the battery contacts it’s in great condition and even included the instructions and a leaflet Edit: I borrowed the contacts from an AA battery holder to test it and it runs well. RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 12, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2019 I was best man for a friend two years ago and while helping clear up the seaside themed wedding I acquired a large bag of sand so Kuchen will have a sandy theme The base layer goes on with a coat of pva, the little jig makes sure the glue is a uniform distance from the sleepers at the board ends so it should all match up.

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 16, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 16, 2019 Completed the collection of skips with no3. You can’t pull all 9 round the loop as it’s too heavy and drags the first one off the inside! Plenty of power in the locos though
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 18, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 18, 2019 Latest bargain bag of Billerbahn included this loco that had been dropped on its cab and the damage badly repaired with excess glue without straightening anything! The cab should be inline with the tank top, not nearly 2mm in! So I pulled it apart and repaired it as best I can without a total rebuild which would involve a repaint I didn’t want to do as it would look different to the plastic ones. So it’s minimal fixing and the melted bits will be left as not really noticeable in use.
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted July 19, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 19, 2019 I intend making a few scenic features to sit alongside the track modules. This is the first next to a siding module for the Corgi crane excavator.
Marly51
I love your module idea! Having accumulated a few Hornby tinplate items for my recent cakebox challenge, I might use them to have a go at something like this for our local Winterfest in November. I am running out of space in my workshop so this might work. The first time I became familiar with Billerbahn, was watching some YouTube videos by Waldbahner!

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 8, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 8, 2019 I had the disc from the centre of the return loop and inspired by a picture of Werks Mainflingen from my Feldbahn book I used a damaged turntable to make a roundhouse, minus the house bit The turntable tracks damaged ends were chopped back so all the tracks would be the same length. 3

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted May 20, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 20, 2020 I have the excavator scene and I have three more planned. Here’s another one that’ll be slowly sinking into the dunes.
