RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted September 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 4, 2019 (edited) There are plenty of good clues there - the wagon behind the arch, for instance, and some bricks to count - the arch is 4 bricks thick; 4 x 4.5 in = 18", a good start. The spring line of the arch is about 3 bricks above the top of that wagon, so (height of wagon + 9") above rail level. I count about 34 bricks from spring line to crown of the arch - from which I estimate the span of the arch at around 10'6" - 11'0". RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted September 4, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2019 The bottom of the arch reveals are close to the level of the B12's lower running plate, and the curve of the arch starts at approximately the level of the top of the boiler. The wagon inside gives a guide to the width of the arch as well. A bit of research into the number should determine if it's a 9 or 10 foot wheelbase. Steamport Southport
Nice photo of a "Scottish" B12 still in green.
