Accurascale on tour
Steamport Southport replied to Patrick's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
No idea how they do sound, but they are doing it for the J67/J69 and the LBSC E2s outlasted those. The surviving J69 has never steamed in preservation. You could probably cheat as I doubt it would be much different to a Jinty. It was virtually a rip off of the Midland version of the Jinty after all. Jason -
Accurascale on tour
Steamport Southport replied to Patrick's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
I think it would be niche enough as unless Bachmann did it no one else would have the rights to Tommy The Tank so you wouldn't need to consider the compromises needed for the blue thing.... It's whether a manufacturer would want two small SR 0-6-0T locos in their range that didn't have more than ten members in the class with them already having the P Class. Jason -
Wright writes.....
Steamport Southport replied to Tony Wright's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
I think it was more the way a B16s front bogie, cylinders and connecting rods align than long wheelbases which is the problem. Much larger locomotives than a B16 are available in British RTR that can easily go around Second Radius track. Jason -
The best place to see a few BR blue diesels in action
Steamport Southport replied to SouthernBlue80s's topic in Preservation
If you were up North then I would have said the East Lancs. I can't comment on Southern ones, but Midlands then I would look at the SVR. Here's the line up for the next gala. They have two or three a year so easy to plan in advance. https://svr.co.uk/event/spring-diesel-festival/ Visiting locomotives: Two Rail Adventure HST Powercars Electro-Diesel 73119 ‘Paul Taylor’ Class 69 no. 69009 ‘Western Consort’ Class 37 37263 Class 37 37409 ‘Loch Awe’ Class 46 D182 Freightliner Class 70 Freightliner Class 59 Colas Short HST Class 20s 20007, 20048, 20142, 20189, 20205 Colas Locomotive (TBC) Home-fleet: Class 14 D9551 Class 17 D8568 Class 33 33108 Class 40 40106 Atlantic Conveyor Class 50 50007 Hercules Class 50 50035 Ark Royal Class 52 D1062 Western Courier Class 52 D1015 Western Champion Tours of the Kidderminster Diesel Depot and Carriage Shed will be available each day (at additional cost) Jason -
The first one is a bona fide classic if you like "Cult" movies. It's more of a revenge movie than anything else. Think of it as a Spaghetti Western with cars and motorbikes! The critics hated it when it came out. Now it gets good reviews on websites such as IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. Not bad for a film that cost $400,000 to make yet made over $100 million at the box office!

Another line built to mainline standards which was truncated at Oxenhope due to the owning company running out of money. It was supposed to go across to Hebden Bridge. If you think that 167 ton locomotives with an axle weight of 22 tons worked on branchlines then you are very much mistaken. All those preserved lines have had major work done so they could use large locomotives. However those are preservation era. Now find a genuine photograph of a Pacific working on a branchline.... Besides Hornby haven't even made a preserved A3 or A4. I know about "Rule 1", but Legends comment wasn't about that as you well know. Jason
-
The Severn Valley Railway isn't and never was a branch line. It's a truncated cross country mainline. Now post a photograph of a Pacific on a genuine branchline. No photos? I wonder why.... Jason

I am so happy that a song which six year olds sang in the playground in 1976 offended someone enough nearly fifty years later for it to be deleted. That's with the words that are mildly offensive blanked out! My little wannabe Punk self will be so proud!

The vans, not the brake vans. LNER vans had sliding doors. This is pure GWR but with LNER markings. https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-vent-van-era-3-tt6004 Geof Sheppard via Wiki Jason

Bumped the thread though! With the amount of announcements that occur nowadays sometime you forget what has already been announced.... Jason

Might be of interest to anyone on here with deep pockets. Seems to be from the remnants of the Hattons stock. Loads of junk in some lots but this one stands out. https://www.sheffieldauctiongallery.com/auction/lot/lot-150---oo-gauge-wagon-kits-boxed-seemingly-complete/?lot=19624&so=0&st=&sto=0&au=72&ef=&et=&ic=False&sd=0&pp=96&pn=2&g=1 Jason

For the screw I would try one of the spares sellers as often parts like that were used in many different models. Try Lendons. https://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/ Another solution would be looking on eBay. Are these the right size? Might be worth getting in touch with the seller as he seems to have a few Lima parts. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305111324857?itmmeta=01HXC9TFH8GJ207TH5NKX5J6QR&hash=item470a0d58b9:g:HYMAAOSwMhpk7Kxl&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwN2UWa1M5Cy8X3kVrI3MHD6b235z%2F1lcjFhUy%2BjDtenfoRcZWr0xhXe8SvED2sXm7cV3Y%2Fdeii4HUvGseFo5pEb1MVOu%2BxYHZBUz%2BonA%2BqACKc0RI6s%2FjfYKZ1EjmTsx8sKzTgv%2BI3FE6erxR6pEh9zNNwJGnEUsSjMs9%2BHFzQE9nvjLjqfP4xReR0k8W7pE%2FqG%2FEgnZwt0yct8ae%2BzjoF2xSrB6fB8NTBJan8tsGOxcIOG2Z2dLsjhJTPlH2j2Tuw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9746YnrYw Jason

After having a quick look through transfer makers it seems that Railtec might be the solution for GWR livery vans. Cambridge Custom Transfers will probably do BR era, so that's two transfer manufacturers on board. https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=11389 https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=11391 Now to work out what diagrams the Hornby van is closest to, but I assume the V23/V24 like Ratio made. Passengers might not have, but the people working on them might have done. Non corridor stock though.... They were fixed sets and I don't think that railways sold tickets with allocated seat numbers back then. Maybe on Boat Trains, but these were suburban sets made for the major cities. More a case of piling in where there was a seat. Jason
-
Not me as there is nothing in the sets that I actually want! So, I bought the PECO GWR station. No GWR available.... Hornby announce a J50 so I bought the LCUT LNER signal box. https://lcut.co.uk/index.php?product=B TT0-02&title=B TT0-02 I'll pick up an LNER brake van at some point, but looked at the LNER vans. Why are they GWR vans in LNER livery or with ER markings? https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-vent-van-era-3-tt6005 https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-vent-van-era-3-tt6004 https://uk.Hornby.com/products/br-vent-van-era-4-tt6006 I'm afraid these things shouldn't be happening in 2024. So after much umming and ahhing I bought a Ruston & Hornsby 88DS instead whilst pondering where I can get GWR transfers from.... The reason why serious modellers aren't taking up TT is above. There just isn't a coherent range available yet for those past the train set stage. Maybe in the next couple of years there will be. Until then I'll slowly add bits as I go along. So don't expect a layout anytime soon. However my idea of a quick GWR BLT is on hold and seems to have moved to somewhere like Yorkshire! Jason

Didn't get one for this then? That's a shame.
