Ruston
W.G. Bagnall Empress running around its train at Blaenavon High Level Push and pull from Furnace Sidings to Big Pit. 16-inch Hunslet, East Moors No.18 Andrew Barclay Rosyth No.1 and Empress. Visiting from the Middleton Railway, 12-inch Hunslet Brookes No.1 Hunslet 0-6-0D(M)? Hudswell Clarke 0-4-0DH This Hudswell Clarke was running as "Harold" but is in fact Illingworth. It was a visitor but I don't know where from. It looks like an Antonia class but with external valve gear. I would have taken more photos earlier on but my camera batteries were dead on arrival and I had to walk into Blaenavon town to get some more. "It's only a ten minute walk High Level station", they said. What they didn't mention is that it's a twenty minute walk back because it's something like a 1 in 6 hill all the way. 10 1
avonside1563
Couple of corrections Dave, 'Jessie' (East Moors 18) is actually an 18" 48150 class Hunslet and 'Brookes No1' is a 14" Hunslet. 'Illingworth' was visiting from the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway (Nee Yorkshire Dales Railway).
Gordon A
I had an excellent Saturday afternoon there. The organisers and all the staff should be congratulated for an interesting day. Three trains shared between five steam locos made for a variety of movements. There was also tours round Furnace Sidings. I would have liked to upload another picture. So far I have used 8mb, but I keep getting the 10mb limit message which will not let me another picture of 1.29mb. Any way as I said an excellent day out. 5050
Great photos Dave and Gordon. Looked like it was a grand day out. Did the loco with the corrugated 'roof' actually work like that - or is it just a post-preservation temporary attachment?
RMweb Gold Tim Hall Posted September 16, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 16, 2019 Another good day at PBR. The galas are always good fun, with locos working hard and a varied timetable. Warm weather on Saturday as well.

The corrugated roof on Sir John is a temporary attachment while it waits its turn in the restoration shop. Gordon A

5050
Gordon, I think you need to seek out a copy of 'The Observers Book of Farmyard Animals'.
