009 micro modeller
I was wondering if anyone could help me identify these photos, which have been stuck inside the front and back covers of a secondhand railway book I purchased several years ago. Many of them are fairly obviously taken at Amberley (especially obvious is the one with the running-in board) although they’re still interesting: Meanwhile I think these two are taken at Llanberis Lake (although unrelatedly it would still be interesting to find out about the origins of ‘Llanelli’ - I think I know about the other Ruston): These three I’m less sure about, the battery loco and coaches resemble Llechwedd but I’m not sure the setting is right. The Simplex might even be a non-preservation site: Just to emphasise that these were already stuck in; they aren’t my photos.
decauville1126
Quite correct with all your Amberley ones. Without getting too deep, the first one shows Townsend Hook, Monty, and in the foreground the 2ft 11in gauge Simplex. The Ruston is 187081 of 1937. All are still at Amberley apart from the Bagnall Wendy which is now at Statfold.

009 micro modeller
Just now, sir douglas said: the blue simplex second from bottom is Welsh Highland Heritage "Cnicht" https://www.whr.co.uk/stock/diesel/36-cnicht/ Yes, I thought it might be a Yorkshire Water Authority loco. Do you think in the photo it’s at the WHHR or an earlier location?
Fat Controller
If the one named 'Llanelli' is an ex-mine or tunnel loco, then it may have been donated by Thyssen. They had a yard at Old Castle, Llanelli, where they stored all sorts of mining and tunnelling material between contracts. This included narrow-gauge railway stock, including locomotives. 009 micro modeller
Page 33 of Andrew Neale’s Industrial Narrow Gauge Album shows a Ruston at RAF Fauld which went to Llanberis and looks like the green one (not Llanelli) in the photo above although sadly no works number to cross-reference. I wonder where the photos of the cabless Ruston and the battery loco are though?
