RMweb Gold Nickey Line Posted June 5, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2020 In the process of fitting the detailing bits and bobs to a Bachmann 4F, I have found it difficult to determine how the cab doors should be attached. Looking at the service sheet it would suggest that they fit inside the cab side sheets, but this seems unlikely. I've not been able to find a definitive pic anywhere, so I was wondering if anyone knows how they should be fitted? To the tender perhaps? I know this applies to some locos, but by no means all. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this...
Steamport Southport
It's a bit late to start looking for mine. Even if I knew exactly where it is. But if I remember correctly they should be attached to the tender, just inside the side sheets. There are usually little holes or dimples to locate where they are attached. Have a look at the photos of this Brassmasters kit. Click on them to enlarge. Also the instructions are pretty informative with clear diagrams. http://www.brassmasters.co.uk/Fowler_tender.htm More photos and info here. http://www.brassmasters.co.uk/4F.htm However it might depend on if you have a Midland one with MR tender as it seems they have the cab doors fitted to the loco cab sides. Jason Thanks Jason, the Brassmasters instructions and pics are very helpful. The version I have has the same tender as the Brassmasters one, i.e. the Fowler 3500 gallon, but there doesn't appear to be any locating points on the one I have... still, I think I have enough info to proceed. Alternatively I could just leave them off, of course!
