jwphillips
Could anyone point me towards some good resources identifying consists for RTC trains in the 80s? Scotland ideally. Cheers

eastwestdivide
Scroll down a bit to my post in this thread for some test train formations from Derby:
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted November 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2020 I suspect most of the RTC fleet didn't get as far as Scotland - too far from Derby for trials works. Some test cars did: Two pantograph testing with HST: http://www.traintesting.com/Highspeed_pan.htm Class 150 commissioning: http://www.traintesting.com/Class150.htm More common would have been the for-runners of the yellow Network Rail test trains: Ultrasonic Test Unit Structure Gauging Train Radio Survey It's probably also worth searching for test trains relating to the introduction of RETB (radio electronic token block) signalling. Steven B. Thanks! I’d found RDB 975010 'Test Coach Iris' at Inverness on 9/7/84. RMweb Premium keefer Posted November 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2020 Another one which went everywhere was the ex-cl.103 'Lab 5' DMU. Usually had a board showing 2Z24 in the bottom of the middle windscreen. I remember seeing it going north through Kirkcaldy in 1984/5 https://www.railcar.co.uk/type/class-103/non-passenger-use https://www.railcar.co.uk/data/vehicle/975089
