Plenty of activity in the yard this morning.  Car train passing through and not all in white covers!  Newly arrived freight to be shunted and oil tanks seem to be moving out.

What are the yellow strips that have appeared across the tracks - do they mark walk-ways.  I'm quite surprised by how much walking about takes place - the drivers of the shunter walked across for a chat with the driver of the newly-arrived freight but not following the yellow track.

Cheers Llama nice link there on 1216 960 and noted in the archive it brought in the load sat in the platform between 4am-4:115am. so who knows loco / wagon problems or drivers hours up - whatever reason it gives something un-expected in the viewing department again for Plattling watchers.

Hi Mike,

yes the new yellow strip is a new walk-way put in couple of weeks ago, I entertaining seeing the guys sort & fix the pieces in place. a mystery why one part is set back and not full pathway across and I wondered if they had a anti-slip surface for rain/ snow etc. Also interesting that what looked like level ground before now with aid of the walkway shows drop down between the 4th - 5th tracks from the platform. I did wonder when they were laying as to what there made of, as even the big pieces between track were moved about by a single person.  guessing full ABS plastic or  ABS covered plyboard  or similar design etc.

What's the link for the archive? This is something i've not made not use of. (although I'm not sure I want to know what I've missed!  :) )

Direct link is - http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&s=l

alternatively for plattling or the other cams follow  below.

it`s quite handy if you just missed or want to check something as cam takes a snapshot approx. every 15 mins.

click  Startseite  at the top right of the page..

post-14408-0-72452100-1432168296_thumb.jpg

you will then see all the 5 cams available and under each cam pic in yellow is archive / live click which required.

click archiv  and it will show latest picture and time stamps of all others take that day so far, click any time for that picture example 11:30

There is also the white date time boxes so you can look up days/months previously etc.

Take note the last cam   Brotjacklriegl - Aussichtsturm   is a cam in Austria with a pan/tilt/zoom you can move about around the area, there are some ski slopes and mostly forrest area. it DOES require on first use a small plug-in app so you can use it, or it wont load picture screen.

I know you`ll probably curse me for all the time spent  of days gone by - good job I`ve got broad shoulders  lol

otherwise enjoy :D

edit: forgot to add link doh ha ha

....a mystery why one part is set back and not full pathway across .....

I expect they had to avoid the moving point blades -  I can't imagine people making the detour while walking across :)

Nice but rather grubby EVB (I think - any one confirm?) class 223 Hercules diesel stabled at the end of one of Plattling's platforms currently.  Wasn't aware they came that far south. Good excuse for Fleischmann's lovely N gauge on my layout now!

It delivered the tankers to the sidings. You can see it on the archive Plattling images

and then set off with them

Normally the archive imager misses all the good stuff, but today it was lucky. And now I know what time it is due to arrive/leave. Is this the retrack / transpetrol service from Koln to Hungary? I think it is, I found a pdf promotion somewhere and here is a useful image for the route etc

There are lots of images on Flickr with other Vectrons pulling the same train

There have been 2 Lokomotion 139's on a roll-on roll-off train at Plattling recently. You can see archived images here

A thread on dreischeiebe has clearer photos from Regensburg

Google translate seems to say the train comes from Neufahrn (near Munich) then reverses at Plattling and goes toward Regensburg. It goes on this route until the 15th of September. It is seen in Plattling about 06:15 or 07:30 (UK time!).
