Ian Fisher
Some of the first ones, one of the frist to feature all wheel drive the centre axle could run a tad too high so the bogie "rocks" ever so slightly. The bogie frame can also be a tad force fit which can have other effects which some file work just the odd pass can begin to put that right. A more evasive fix is to ream out the middle axle with a broach or such like that will allows the wheel to sit just that bit lower. One fix I was pondering was to strip the middle gear so it just spun didnt didnt provide traction making it a more for model forms a 1-a-1 1-a-1 Ian

RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted December 3, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 3, 2010 A friend had an issue with wires for the pick-ups being snagged when the loco was being put together, hence the bogie didnt have as much free movement as it should have and would derail when going around corners. Might be worth checking out before carrying out major surgery!

Robert Davies
The back-to-backs of the wheels are worth a look too if you're still having issues - My 'Sunderland' was w-a-y out on a couple of axles, bizarrely it would still work fine in one direction but not t'other. -Rob
martin_l_jones
There can also be issues with the front face of the NEM coupling box fouling the front inside face of the loco body. You only need to remove 0.5mm off it and it makes a big difference, or angle it back at the top. I have had a few locos with this issue and it has worked every time
