Flood
If you look at the pics above, the white stripe is slightly thinner than the red one. On the model, they are the same height. Looking at tim-minay's close-up photo of the body side the red stripe is definitely wider than the white.
tim-minay
in real life the white strip definately looks thinner, however, not sure whether or not this may be exagerated by my camera, its not the best !

43179
Seconded Great photos - dont think 37s have ever looked smarter than that! always on the look out for piccies of 416 with its painted 'Mt Fuji' - but I think your photo pre dates that a bit. The livery on the Bachmann model , though not 100% accurate wouldnt take much to patch paint and fix and give you a nice looking mainline 37 - certainly far easier than painting one from scratch. tfn Jon
43179
Heres my own Mainline 37 - i got the stripes wrong too though - I havent quite recovered from painting it yet so for now - its the only one ive got Jon
tim-minay
my favourite is the one with the model locomotive beside the real one, lovely stuff!
RMweb Premium keefer Posted December 26, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 26, 2010 don't know if it helps, but the parkin mk1 book has a section on livery details and under 'InterCity (Executive)' it has the white stripe as 4", the red as 7.5" deep. Poindexter
HI I know this is not the prototype thread but...... I have noticed that 37415 and 37417 were both allocated to Thornaby in 1990. What services would they have been put to work on? Freight, passenger? What stock would they have run with? One last question (I promise) Do the experienced modelers think 37415 would renumber to 37417 OK? Thanks Guy
37176
420 moved to TE with 15&17 in May 1990. Both 15&17 worked passenger trains out of Inverness in ICML livery before moving south. 420 remained in Large Logo but not for long. At TE they worked metals and construction sector trains but they may have ended up on anything. All three were very rare on passenger trains at the time. 15 went into the north West club train pool in 92. 17&20 went to Laira fir Cornish China Clay work and only worked a couple of passenger trains whilst there. Poindexter
Thanks Michael. I think I once saw a pic of 420 at Thornaby with both a Stag and a Kingfisher on it. not sure how long it lasted like that though. Guy
NickL2008
Must admit, 37415 does look a good model, its a shame about the shade of Intercity ML being too light, but I think with some I could live with that compromise, Maybe even detail up to the standard of Jons 37417 model .. its nice to see Bachmann tackling Mainline once again NL

Who ever has one on here already can you clarify the Snowplough situation? Have they changed the minatures for the one piece 47 style or is it still the old 37 way? Thanks Chris
