The loco for the late SO train came south on the 16.13 from Evercreech. Monday to Friday that loco returned to Bath on the 8.10 freight from Poole. On Saturdays that freight did not run. But the late SO train only went to Templecombe after which the Templecombe crew were booked to take the loco to Evercreech for turning before going back on shed. (Can't think why.) Did the loco make it back to Bath the next morning as a light engine?
RMweb Premium tingleytim Posted April 8 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 8 Getting “Templecombe Lower” ready for the Bristol exhibition at Thornbury Leisure Centre over the bank holiday weekend 3 to 5 May. I hope some of the contributors to this and other Somerset and Dorset Railway Group discussions will be able to come and see the layout in operation. We’ll be replicating sequences that happened during mornings in the late 50s/early 60s either side of Junctions 2 and 3. Quite challenging for the operators - as it probably was for the signalmen in that period!
RailWest
Oh dear....I would really like to come and see this, but it clashes with the WSR 'Spring Event' and other things too :-( Mind you, knowing my 'luck', I won't get to any of the events after all ! Combe Martin
I'm definitely coming, travelling down by train on Friday morning from Ramsgate to Bristol Parkway, afternoon till 7 at the exhibition, hotel for the night, exhibition again on Saturday till about 4 then train home again. Well that's the plan anyway. Looking at the exhibitors list it looks like everything that the Alley Pally exhibition was not, that was a massive disappointment, so I plan to be there for a long time. I've been before, quite a lot of times (but not for quite a while) and always of a Friday, driving down in the morning before it opens and back in the evening, but I don't fancy the drive now (I live even further away now). I'll spend a lot of time watching Templecombe, like I did at Doncaster last year. Peter

RMweb Premium RobAllen Posted Sunday at 08:35 RMweb Premium Share Posted Sunday at 08:35 I visited yesterday and it was fantastic to see Templecombe Lower! Very very nicely done. I took a few photos the with phone as I enjoyed watching the start of the daily sequence: I always have a soft spot for a 2P A Standard 4 on shed. Ivatt 2MT and another 2P! The pilot is used on all trains from Templecombe Upper back to down to the junction. There was a lot of operational complexity at Templecombe and it's captured nicely here. I also very much appreciated the slides telling us what was happening. Very engaging for those of us watching.
RailWest Posted Sunday at 10:18 Share Posted Sunday at 10:18 Out of curiosity, does anyone know please when the S&DJR goods shed was 'blocked up' and its siding removed?

Thanks for the feedback, photos and generous comments. The 2P in the first picture was being piloted back from number 2 junction as part of the repositioning sequence - but for now we could say it was the 5.30 from Bournemouth. You caught me looking concerned perhaps because the pannier tank piloting the freight was emerging from the number 3 platform line! Another thing to check on the route setting. It’s also good to know that the screen display was appreciated and needed to explain what was going on. Some viewers found it hard to believe that what we were running actually happened! We had problems with the display at the last outing but have it controlled by a separate laptop now.

RMweb Premium tingleytim Posted 2 hours ago Author RMweb Premium Share Posted 2 hours ago I found these this morning: 6 minutes video footage from 14.15 minutes to 20.45. Wincanton collects the token at 17.45. Pity the falling man later stays up for 73050 but Wincanton’s timing is spot on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LSPIp6hAogeers. 2 minutes in this one from 1.32.30 to 1.34.20: Cheers. Tim. ps just noticed that S&DJR tarpaulin on the wagon!
