eastwestdivide
I had an afternoon at St Jodok on the Brenner pass in Austria recently, where the line makes a wide loop up a side valley to gain height. You could spend all day there and still not run out of vantage points, but I was dodging the rain, so didn't get too far from shelter. From the station across the village to the other side of the curve, a Munich-Innsbruck-Italy EC service: One of the many Rollende Landstrasse (RoLa - see http://www.rola.at/),which had a loco each end, one passenger coach for the truck drivers and a string of flats for the trucks avoiding the slow crawl over the Brenner motorway: An Italy-Innsbruck-Munich EC service: And I'd done my homework, so I was expecting the Orient Express - look at those approaching clouds though, time to run back to the station: There's an hourly local service, the ECs run every two hours roughly I think, and plenty of freight (RoLa, containers and others) in between.
Peppercorn
Another of Tilbury Riverside looking away from the terminus - I was right at the end of the platform - showing a very modellable three way assymetric point. mike morley
And just to prove that I don't only take long-distance pictures of steam in Wales . . . One of the Manx Electric's Winter Saloons and trailer cars southbound near Dreemskerry. Edited to add that from a modelling point of view I like the difference in the shades of green between the field beyond the line being grazed by sheep and the fields in front of the line lying fallow.
