McGomez
Another one from the Region of Murcia. 1 of only 2 Talgos that run on Saturdays from Cartagena to Madrid. This is just north of Cieza. upneysidings
I can't understand why it is that I seem to be the only one who waxes lyrical over small steam in a big landscape. I've always loved this shot of a southbound Stanier 5MT scuttling southwards at Salterwath Bridge over the River Lune just south of Tebay in August 1964. This view is still possible, but sadly only from a moving vehicle on the southbound M6. Stanier 8F class 2-8-0 no. 48111 at Ais Gill on May 28th, 1967. The car seems to be an Austin A40 hatchback Stanier 8F class 2-8-0 no. 48327 has assistance from an unidentified classmate in this impressive picture as the pair storm up Chequerbent incline. An unidentified Stanier Jubilee class 4-6-0 at Wigston South Junction on an unspecified date.

RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted January 20, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Another of Dad's. Strangely he doesn't record the loco's name or number. Edited January 20, 2016 by phil_sutters
bike2steam
I can't understand why it is that I seem to be the only one who waxes lyrical over small steam in a big landscape. It's sad really, but I suppose many, like me, who don't have any interest in anything 'non-steam', only took pics of steam, pre-preservation, in built up areas, but I do like those shots of yours.

RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted January 20, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2016 Cambrian Coast line at Picnic Island just west of Penhelig, on the Dovey estuary, 11/2/2010 mC_0380b.jpg Brilliant -- and not a train in sight to become the centre of focus instead of the landscape. Thanks. Martin.
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted January 20, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) Three slightly urban landscapes - Newport is the 'capital' of the Isle of Wight and the backdrop of the first of Dad's shots is definitely urban. A rather more suburban landscape at Paignton. I am not sure that Conwy would like to be called urban, but there is a lot of the 'built environment' in the next shot. raymw
2005 - my daughter had a flat near Clapham Junction, more like landscape in the lines. There's a bit of reflection since took through window.
raymw
5th September 2004, Dunball. This view now obstructed by Morrison's warehouse... I've been going through some of my older snaps, as you may tell - Picasa is pretty useful
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted January 22, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2016 (edited) 2005 - my daughter had a flat near Clapham Junction, more like landscape in the lines. There's a bit of reflection since took through window. DSCN0886.jpg I once had a meeting in No.1 London Bridge which overlooks the station of the same name. My shot is also through double glazing. I think that there is just about enough non-railway landscape to creep in here. Certainly the trains are not the centre of attention. After all, this is what passes for landscape in central London! RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted January 22, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 22, 2016 Another from Conwy, although I am not sure that a line of period cars really counts as landscape.

Danemouth
Another from Conwy, although I am not sure that a line of period cars really counts as landscape. Loved the Vauxhall Victor station wagon in the foreground. One of dad's friends had one and it was two tone as well! Dad wasn't a great one for locos in the landscape. There are some where the surroundings are quite picturesque, although the train is definitely the focal point. I'll try one or two and hope I haven't pushed the boundaries too far. Regards Phil.
raymw
Dunball again at five past four, yesterday - mobile phone - but you can't see much, even after over-sharpening, so I cropped and enlarged and shown as second pic. (Not the best workflow for jpegs) .
