Looking good Paul. I like the idea of idea for the barriers, I need some of these for Dragon Steels so that's another I might steal from you. :-)

Dragon Steels is now operational, I've been testing the fiddle yard today.

Cheers

Called at the thornbury show today, other than a cement terminal in OO there was a noticeable absence of modern image industrial layouts, hopefully this may fill a void ( if there is one.)

I think there's a massive void!

I went up to the Abergavenny Train and Toy fair today and was very disappointed.

Even on the "second hand" stalls it was pretty much entirely Steam or Blue Diesel for locos and the rolling stock was even older!

Of the three layouts there, only one was actually running (a very good steam-based model of Abergavenny Brecon Street) and the other two were a small steam layout and a 15' viaduct with a 158 looking like it would be on a shuttle as opposed to any kind of "driver controlled" operation.

I can't remember the last time I saw a present-day layout of any kind, it's as if most exhibition modellers decided that the place to stop was somewhere around 1995 because nothing since then was worth modelling.  Admittedly there are a few excellent exceptions to the above, however they rarely seem to be on display near me. :(

One of the reasons for building my oil terminal is that I hope at some point someone might think it good enough to display and I can start adding big smelly multi-coloured (Colas/GBRf/Freightliner) diesels to what seems to be a sea of BR Blue, BR Green or EWS Maroon! :)

Anyway, enough ranting, the pallets look brilliant as does the rest of the layout,

Matt

Please excuse the deviation for five minutes, but these are in response to an email request for info on a previous layout. And it's quicker to post here than email the pictures.

Apologies.

Apologies.

My local station, but I still get flashbacks after operating the layout over two days at a Cardiff Show some years back !

.

PS

I've got the inspiration for your next layout, again modern and industrial.

How about I pick you up Friday afternoon and we discuss it on the way to the roundhouse show.

I will bring a bag of sweets.

Bear in mind we are not setting up on Friday night but early on the Saturday so bring some beer tokens.

Bought two Roco pressurised gas tanks at the Derby show last weekend, they are the dogs.

Trouble is they put the other stock to shame.

Knackered my NCE powercab, need to buy a replacement, but Coastal DCC came to the resue and loaned me theirs for the show. Big up thanks to Kevin, what a knowledgable chap, and a brilliant service.

Action now afoot to find a new owner for Ranelagh bridge.post-9901-0-03154700-1431462949.jpg

You really ought to post this image in the Overseas (Australian) Modelling section.

I take it your glass eye has nodded off?

I was having a bit of me time, recovering from a king kongs finger moment.

Trying not to bore your glass eye to sleep again....... But. I guess you will have noticed the change in thread name, and my changed Avatar image, together with a few removed images from the thread, I will be refraining from refering to the plant by its Corperate name to boot.

So, I need a new name for the layout, any ideas?

Behind every change there's a story...... so, do tell and may help us come up with a suitable name.

One might describe the matter as a tad delicate,

I have inadvertently trodden on the toes of a large Corperate Entity, which, whilst it admires my efforts, is very positive in its intention to protect its intellectual rights, privacy of process, and copyright.

How about DC Chemicals....?

Keeps you free of the Cow Dorning (see what I've done there?) corporate police.

Cheers,

Mick

I was wondering about that for quite some time. (Love your layout/progress.)

(I visit many Dow C DC Chemical sites around the would!

How about Silicon Specialists or ...  Hold on no, that won't work!
