Wagon Buffers

Recommended Posts

This gentleman might be able to help:-

http://www.lanarkshiremodels.com/

ABS used to do quite a range of older designs of buffers, but he hasn't a web-presence as far as I know.

There are also these people:-

Thanks Fat Controller, I have already looked at those sites and found some of what I am looking for, but not those listed.

Thanks again, but only unfitted Midland wagon buffers and GW type buffers, lots of pre-group axle boxes and springs. You would think that supplying the running gear that the buffers would also be available,

Looks as though it could be down to ABS, then.

The contact details I have are:-

ABS Models

39, Napier Road,

Hamworthy,

POOLE

BH15 4LX

'Phone 01202 672 891

The list I have is about four years old, but the following are listed:-

LBSCR 18" wagon buffer with 12" head

LBSCR 18" self-contained buffer with 12" head

LSWR   18" buffer with 12" head

LBSCR early self-contained buffer

LNWR  18" x 12" buffer

LNWR 20.5" x 12" early buffer (2-rib)

LNWR 20.5" x 12" later buffer (1-rib)

GNR 18" 4-rib short body

GNR 18" 4Rib on 2.5" block

GNR 20.5" on 2.5" block

GNR 20.5" on 5" block

GNR 18" long body 4-rib.

NER 18" 3-rib buffer.

I've used quite a lot of his buffers (though of more recent types) and generally found them of reasonable quality, though the masters must be almost 40 years old by now. I suppose the bestw ay to contact him would be via post or phone, listing what you need, and wait for him to quote. I think he's got e-mail, but I can't remember his address. It would be worth getting his full list, just to see what else he does.
