bluedepot
Hi everyone,, I have just bought a second hand dc Mistral Models x3800! Very nice it looks too! it's the only model I have ever bought that came with passengers in it. I was just wondering though how easy it would be to convert to DCC sound one day? Cheers, Tim
kintbury jon
They did have the same engine as in the X2400 Autorail and the first batch of RGP X2700 so that might help in your search.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted August 26, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 26, 2015 Mistral made Picassos in three versions - gold with sound, silver with DC, and a smaller number with DCC. The wiring in the bodyshell was identical, I think. I have struggled to fit DCC to silver versions, and sound would be no easier. You miss out on the lighting options, including the cablight which illuminates on coming to a stand. ESU do a suitable soundfile, I think.
bluedepot
ah ok cheers for info mine is a 'silver' dc one that's a bit stupid that they didn't make them easy to convert to dcc i'm not too worried about lights though. maybe it would need a professional to fit dcc sound to though as i don't have the skills. anyway thanks for very fast replies tim
ianp
I have had some N gauge model autorails successfully converted to "DCC sound" by A&H Models of Brackley in Northamptonshire. I recommend you contact them for advice.
