Hi,

Picking up on a post link on the N Gauge Forum (can't find it again now to thank there) earlier this week, I contacted Jens and asked if some of the existing British types could be resized from 1/160 to 1/148, less than 48 hours later:

Yes, I know the stretch limmo is an oddity, but a specialist hire firm does have a lot of local work for partying, weddings and such... :danced:

Interesting, and worth noting that shapeways have free delivery for all orders until Monday. No connection other than as a satisfied customer! A nice mixture of cars, even allowing for the fact that for railway modellers, the everyday mundane cars are the most exciting (ford escorts and focusses available here)

Thanks for the link! I'd only just put in an order for an ngauge maestro!

Hi Will,

...A nice mixture of cars, even allowing for the fact that for railway modellers, the everyday mundane cars are the most exciting (ford escorts and focusses available here)

Pretty much as I PM'd Jens regarding 'everyday mundane' cars, for me a relatively subtle sprinkling of eye-candy types are to be expected on a City based layout so I can justify the odd Jag or Roller, but the 'ordinary' should take precedence.

Absolutely, I have ordered myself a couple of Focusses (Focii ?) and a couple of Range Rovers, fairly run of the mill stuff.

I also stumbled accross these Volvos https://www.shapeways.com/product/R8DC9QQ69/set-3x-volvo-200-series-british-n-1-148?li=search-results-1&optionId=55086922

Which will look the part next to my Maestro https://www.shapeways.com/product/65CTVZZ2J/nam01-1-148-austin-maestro?li=search-results-1&optionId=42373118

Residents of  Cradley Heath will understand why a set of 1:148 Volvos are an important accompaniment to my 1:148 Class 139!

Hi,

UPS delivered my order last Thursday, after a good cleaning - ultrasonic washes with a little Fairy liquid, rinses with a soft toothbrush (clumsily lost one wing mirror off a Jag) - I now have:

Front: FUD Ford Escort

Next l-r: FUD Ford Focus/Chevrolet Cruze/Jaguar S Type/Aston Martin DB5 (seen near Blofeld House)

Next l-r: FUD Rolls Royce Phantom/Range Rover Vogue/Lincoln Stretch Limo

Back: FXD 1/160 Kenworth W900 Auto Carrier

The Kenworth is primarily intended for the Mercy Street version of my layout, I've been trying to get hold of a couple of etched trailer kits for some time but without success, very happy with the FXD print - I was a bit nervous as to how this would print, it was the last of the order Shapeways processed which worried me until I unpacked the box... I'm tempted to see one in 1/148, perhaps with an Oxford Diecast 3-axle chassis and Tomytec cab... :senile:

The intention is to give these a primer coat during the week and see if I can find my camera battery charger for additional piccies.

Hi,

I had another message from Jens on Saturday, a Volvo XC 70 pair in 1/148 automatically added to the range - after my first batch I'll have to wait a little to add these:

Very nice, I'll have to get a couple of those Volvos next time I do a shapeways order.

My Range Rovers and Focusses are just emerging from the paint shop. I was a bit disappointed with the 'stepping' on the bodywork but this has been hidden with 'some slightly thicker than you would have thought necessary' paint. But this is a minor quibble given how useful this range is. Other similar products like the Maestro from Paul Burkitt Gray are much smoother in the curved panels in the same material (FUD)

(I now have a 1:148 MG Maestro Turbo in the works!) :sungum:
