WhiteRoseRambler
Good morning, I have a DCC ready Hornby Black 5 (The NRM edition of No 5000) which has died on me - I think it might be the motor. Would the chassis from a Hornby Railroad version be a direct swap? Many thanks Chris
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted September 17, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 17, 2015 Looking at the service sheets on the Hornby site, No. The mountings and fixings are different. Would take some modifications to both the loco shell and the chassis block. Have a look on ebay. The often have complete chassis units.
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted September 17, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 17, 2015 Good morning, I have a DCC ready Hornby Black 5 (The NRM edition of No 5000) which has died on me - I think it might be the motor. Would the chassis from a Hornby Railroad version be a direct swap? Many thanks Chris 'fraid not. They are completely different models, the Railroad one being based around most of the old tender drive model dating from the 1970s. The good news is that replacement motors are not hard to come by, difficult to fit or expensive. Check out the service sheet on-line for the part number then the shop for current availability.
