We've already posted some images and history of the layout in RMweb. If you do a search for - Ventnor, Isle of Wight, 1970 - we start on page 2, there are interesting prototype photos in there as well as Ventnor layouts by others. The layout was started some time ago by our ex President Frank Woodhurst and then moved forward along with our current President Dave Walsh. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to Frank last week, he was just over 101 years and was still doing some modelling at 100 before he went into a home in Seaford, he was a wonderful character. So the layout is a tribute to Frank and Dave's modelling. It is currently running in the Southern Railway era, the plan (eventually) is go slightly retro when we can get hold of the Beyer 2-4-0T kits (not currently available) to run with some 4 wheel coaches and also to come forward slightly to late 40's when we can run BR black O2's with crimson coaches. One of our members has just bought the Kernow O2, on test it runs very well, hopefully we will be able to run it on Ventnor at the weekend.
