RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted October 25, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 25, 2015 Is there a visual external difference between these two tender types? The Bachmann models dont look dramatically different to me.

Raised On Steam
The divider on the BR1C is further to the rear than that on the 1B which is in the middle.

SRman
There may be other subtle differences but as the water capacity is the same for both types, coal capacity seems to be the major difference: 7 tons for the BR1B, 9 tons for the BR1C. Raised On Steam
I found this guide on the Golden Arrow site: http://www.goldenarrow.me.uk/goldenarrow_htm_files/pdfs/BR%20std%20tenders.pdf
RMweb Gold TravisM Posted July 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 25, 2017 I am sketching 9Fs.... I have drawn a BR1C tender and I am drawing a BR1F tender, but is the BR1F tender longer? I believe that the BR1F tender is the one that's "maxed out" regarding coal (7 tons) and water capacity at 5625 gallons, hence the tender sides followed rolling stock profiles and didn't have the cut out others had. The BR1E and J tenders had a larger coal capacity at 10 tons but smaller water capacity. I think the BR1F was used on routes where there were fewer water stops, I hope that makes sense? I think the tender wheelbase remained the same for all BR tenders. Julian Sprott
