Interests
Interested in both the Southern Pacific RR and ATSF in California during the late 70's/ early 1980's but stopped modelling them because of the lack of dealers in the UK, so now modelling a representation of the Cumbrian Coast line between 2017 and 2018, when the passenger workings were in the hands of DRS Class 37's.
Also interested in London Transport's RT, RM and RML bus's, photography, aviation (both civil and military), riding motorbikes, music from hard rock to classical, depending on my mood plus loads more.

St Bees and the Cumbrian Coast - The DRS Class 37 years
TravisM replied to TravisM's topic in Layout topics
My version of Mark Egdell's picture on Flickr, of 68001 and 68026 departing St Bees with a single FNA wagon on the 6M60, Seaton-on-Tees to BNFL Sellafield in 2017. This is something I'm hoping to recreate on my layout and was hoping to post his picture on here as well with his permission, but I can't seem to attach the link.. -
OO Scale BR Mk1 drop head knuckle couplers

I'm looking for something more substantial -
OO Scale BR Mk1 drop head knuckle couplers
TravisM replied to TravisM's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
I spoke to someone at West Hill Wagon Works at the NEC recently and the guy was really rude and dismissive, telling me all they do is the magnetic couplers, completely missing the point and what I was looking for. Do you have a link by chance? -
OO Scale BR Mk1 drop head knuckle couplers
TravisM posted a topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
I’m trying to find a 4mm/OO Scale BR Mk1 drop head knuckle coupler as a detail part. I’ve searched several sites but had no luck. I have a Bachmann BSK which will be at the end of my excursion train, which I’ve added a flashing tail light and will be adding brake pipes and ETH cables at a later date, so need the coupler to finish it off. -

I( thought I'd share pictures of my four Dapol Class 68's. They include 68001 'Evolution', 68005 'Defiant', 68008 'Avenger' which are in DRS compass livery, and 68026 in DRS plain blue. 68005 has been fitted with DCC and sound, and the rest are DCC fitted but will be upgraded to sound at a later date. Just need my Dapol/Rails of Sheffield Class 88 to finish the set -
Cavalex class 91 and mk4 coaches in N? is it still on the table?
TravisM replied to Adamphillip's topic in Cavalex
I spoke to Revolution at the NEC last weekend about them doing the 91 and Mk4's, and as @Adam1701D said, there's not much appetite to do them in N gauge -

Two latest editions to my fleet, a Realtrack/Rainbow Railways Class 156 in Northern's RAF 100th Anniversary livery. This is a exclusive model by Rainbow Railways and is DCC and sound fitted, a model I have wanted for a long time. The other is a Bachmann Class 37, 37424/37558, another one I've been after for awhile since my original model was stolen and the prototype was a regular on the Cumbrian Coast line. -

I’m keeping it and like you say, it does look great in large logo, even my girlfriend in the US likes it. As I have a jubilee, 45562 ‘Alberta’ which in reality was scrapped years ago, running on my layout, I could say that 40145 stayed like this on my railway right up until after my time frame (2017-19) when it was then painted in BR Green -

These are my two latest editions to my fleet. The first was bought on a whimsy and this model is a limited edition from Key Publishing (Hornby Magazine) and done as 40145 in it's fictitious BR large logo and named 'East Lancashire Railway' from 2007 until 2010 when it suffered a serious failure. It was put back into service in 2013 and painted back into BR blue. This model is DCC and Sound fitted and I'm seriously considering having resprayed back into BR Blue as it carried from 2013 till 2021, when it was repainted into BR Green and numbered D345. The other loco is a Dapol Class 68, 68026 in DRS's plain blue livery which it carried from when it first arrived into the country until it carried the TPE livery. It has since had it's TPE vinyl's removed after DRS lost the TPE and Mk5a contract. -

Class 180 DMUs: where are they operating now?
TravisM replied to Will Crompton's topic in UK Prototype Questions
According to Platform 5 publications, as of 2024, 180101 - 108/110 (ex EMR unit)/112/114 are in service with Grand Central and 180109/111/113 are the ex EMR units and in storage at Potters, Ely -
I believe it was originally done in the 1990's as 40445 with false ETH connections on the ends and ED West Highland Terrier on the bodyside, but I could be confusing it with another loco.

I’m thinking of get one of Hornby Magazine’s Bachmann Class 40 exclusive of 40145 in faux BR large logo livery and named ‘East Lancashire Railway’ and I was wondering when the loco carried this livery? I thought it might be a great addition to my St Bees layout with it working a excursion train but as my layout is set between 2017-19, would it be back in standard BR blue within that time frame.

I'd like to see a Hastings DEMU 6 car set produced and maybe the Class 204, 205 and 207 'Thumpers' as 3 car sets. I firmly believe that Kernow/Bachmann shot themselves in the foot when they did the Class 205 as a 2 car. The Bachmann model is good but very few ever ran as 2 cars, except when new.

Because my local model shop, the one I support doesn’t have it in stock.
