Tryfan
I'm working on a fiddle yard at the moment with a base board made of chipboard. It consists of 16 Peco turnouts for which I have purchased Peco PL-11 side mounted turnout motors. The instructions recommend that I secure the motors with track fixing pins, but when I have attempted this the SL-14 pins just bend over and won't penetrate the chipboard. Can anyone suggest an alternative as I don't want to glue them to the baseboard in case I have move/replace them.
cliff park
Drill a fine hole, say 1 mm depending on track pin. Make sure baseboard is very well supported immediately underneath where the pin is going in. This can make a huge difference.
RMweb Gold SHMD Posted November 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2015 I would recommend getting (several!) 1mm drills and a pin vice. Locate the PL11, where you want it, and then drill down the holes into the chip board. Check on a test piece first - you may need 0.8mm drills! Kev.
