Davey
I have a 7mm Gladiator Models kit for a GCR Class 8A 0-8-0 (LNER Q4) which I'm going to build to Scale 7 standards for my c.1908, H&BR themed layout. As with all my Scale 7 builds I intend to widen the main frames to the scale prototype dimension between frames. This is a request for help from anyone out there who can give me a definitive answer on the internal width between the main frames and the frame thickness. Any information relating to my request would be greatly appreciated. Davey
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted December 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2015 I don't have a GA of the Q4 but the 2-8-0s were 4'1 1/2" between frames. Since these locos have many parts in common I have no reason to think they were different.
Davey
Many thanks for that Michael. I had read somewhere that the two classes had some parts in common, so your assumption that the main frames were spaced similarly seems a reasonable one, and unless I hear anything to the contrary I will proceed on that basis. Once again many thanks for your input. Davey
