iowcr3429
Hi There, Has anybody ever detailed a Bachmann N class loco with one of these kit? I ask because the instructions in the kit are a bit on the light side ref what all the parts are and how to ft them. If someone could help with a few pictures etc, Cheers in advance, Colin
Horsetan
That particular etch is a bit of a weird one, since it contains one major error: the frame overlays, which are completely wrong for the "N", and are not exactly useable for the "U" class either. That's why they are omitted from the instructions. The rest of the etch should be recognisable, e.g. the smoke deflectors, lamp irons. In general, Mainly Trains etches can be useful, but be aware that some of them come out grossly oversize for 4mm scale - the best example I came across was the lamp irons etch, which had irons big enough for 7mm / O gauge. Much of the artwork was done by Iain Rice - his measurements might have been correct at time of drawing, but something clearly went wrong during the etching process! iowcr3429
Hi Horsetan, Thanks for you reply. I was having some trouble with the frame overlays so it is good to know that it is not just me.
Horsetan
What would be useful would be to compile a list of the Mainly Trains etches that are overscale or have overscale parts in them. Then they can be best avoided.
