Have a good trip ,they should provide a free ticket for you considering your hard work in logging this project plus a red carpet at Dover station !

.....................    David didn't say how much his ticket was discounted  ...   :sungum:

On the other hand, it NSE probably need him to pay full price, unless he has a current "Guard's" Ticket.

This ECS movement worked. A 3-car 375. Signals now all cleared to green.

Thank you, so where is the photo,to go with it ?

Ah,sorry,forgot,a bit like me,not allowed out,after dark.

I see it's origin, is what the grandchildren call,"The Otherside,of the World"

West,as you emerge from the twin Roundhill Tunnels of the A20 onto the road viaduct above Folkestone,

they say, "we are at the Otherside of the world now".

It's the simple things in life, like making an "adventure ", that makes them sleep well,as does walking their socks off.

P.S. For health and safety, I do wear ear defenders, pretending to be listening to Wifi music.

Well, the last day,on the job has arrived (at last,I hear you all shout).

Redundancy looms by the end of this day.

The weather has broken,it is raining.

Later,am out with Nigel, from the Dover Marina, should be fun, with his dry wit.

Hopefully we can persuade you to stay on the job for a while David   we would still like plenty of pics of trains please :good: If you don't, a lot of us are going to have to find something else to do :help: .

Seriously though David, many thanks for the hours and dedication that you have put in over the time of this project.

Cheers.

Bob.

David, sorry to inform you your retirement / redundancy is postponed. Like all good layouts once the trains are running we assume the layout is complete but what about the footbridge and all these large stones to be moved around, obviously the artist in charge is still not satisfied with the final form of the mystery artwork. Readers of this thread request, nay demand, you stay on duty until the last Orange suit and his portaloo have left the site.

Malcolm

PS: Thank you for recording this job in so much detail, is has been fascinating.

Having seen the video on Dover Marina Facebook page, the construction of the spray wall, has not really compromised the view that much. Certainly less than  a rake of empty ferries waiting shipment used to do.

After a few early posts I have watched the rest of this topic from the sidelines.  Not without interest however.  We have a unique record of just about everything which has happened along the sea wall in the past nine months.  Now that trains have returned and Dover is once again rail-connected to Folkestone by the direct route I feel it is time to thank David for his very considerable commitment in time and energy to bring us this history.  In all weathers and at all reasonable times of day - indeed almost every day - he has been out there taking pictures and keeping us informed.

RMweb doesn't have any awards - on another site they were called The Bogies - so please consider yourself thanked, patted on the back and with a glass of something stronger than all that water we've been watching for months raised in your honour.
