south_tyne
Hi all, I am looking at potential options for a first O gauge loco (dangerous I know) and just wondered if anyone had experience of the Walsworth Models Sentinel (Y3) kit? It seems very reasonably priced and looks like it could be a good introduction to the scale but just wondered if anyone out there can personally recommend it? Any advice gratefully recieved! 3 link
In my opinion you would be better off looking at Jim's range of starter kits at Connoisseur models. Martyn.
DOCJACOB
The advice given in an earlier post is excellent. Currently midway through one and decided on giving it a "relaxing sebatical"
MarcD
Hi David My recomendation for a kit is dependant on your experiance of soldering brass and nickel sliver. If your happy with brass the Jim's kits are very good. If your not happy with soldering then one of the springside or tower starter kits would be a good start. On the whole when it comes to loco kits you get what you pay for. There is probably a reason kits are cheep. Marc
south_tyne
Thanks to everyone for their advice, it is definitely food for thought, it is useful to draw on the those with more experience! The Connossieur range seems to always be be cited as the best for the beginner/new starter when looking at etched brass loco kits so I will have a closer look at what is available.
