Dc and Ac on the RhB

Hi all, I am looking at building an RhB exhibition layout using the Kato and other 9mm equipment.

I want to incorporate both AC for the main and DC for the branch as I love the ABe4/4 and want a Pirata model.

I visited St Moritz but can remember the point they changed over and if it was fully isolated or on a dead track, now we have the Allegra it makes life interesting. Any advice would be welcome.

Pontresina is the changeover point for AC and DC. The Allegras can just swap voltage and carry on but the other trains require either a change of motive power for the Bernina Express or passengers to change trains. There are some tracks that have switchable catenary. I assume there's some sort of indicator that conforms to the driver which power is on as they approach but I don't know the exact method.

DM got there first ;)

Ok so Pontrasina, do the Allegras drop pans on way in over the dead section, then re raise with the 2 dc pans, then visa versa on way into the AC and put up the 1 AC pan?
