Blue Max
I noticed that Coastal DCC had the new Zimo MX10 Command Centre on there stand at S4 North at the weekend. Impressive looking bit of kit but at £1500.00 or thereabouts for the WIFI handset version and I suspect not a huge amount less for the standard cabled hand controller, it needs to very good indeed. Will be interested to see reviews of this system as it is adopted by the wealthier amongst us. SteveT
Ron Ron Ron
Like its predecessor, the equally expensive MX1, the MX10 will be a rare bird on UK shores. Advanced and sophisticated it may be, but the price is way above its nearest rivals, the ESU ECoS and Viessmann Commander. Coastal DCC prices.... MX10 Command Station = £999.95 (OK a thousand quid) MX10 + power supply + MX32 wired handset = £1400 MX10 + power supply + MX32FU wireless handset = £1500 There are more expensive, higher powered versions available for large scale layout too !!!! . RMweb Premium Shropshire Lad Posted April 23, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) I've got an MX10 and an MX32FU which I've been using since November. They are still having there software added to but I'm really happy with them. I'm using the system at 20 Amp output which is the same unit with a different power supply, an extra £170 on the 12 Amp power supply. Using an ECoS with ESU boosters to 20 Amps is actually more expensive! The Zimo handhelds are expensive but are easy to use one handed and well balanced. The radio in the unit has a good range which is important to me when using the system outside. I'm planning to use the new Stein Modules to allow a degree of automation without a PC. I'm going to connect a wifi router to my MX10 which means visitors can use Rocos Z21 app in addition to my MX32 to control trains. As I said it's still awaiting some features but there does seem to be a steady stream of updates. RMweb Premium Ian J. Posted August 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 11, 2017 I quite like the idea of the Zimo DCC system, but I'm concerned as to what paying a grand for the base unit alone will get me beyond what any other DCC system maker has to offer? There must be one or more pretty significant things to make it worth paying four to five times the price of Lenz's top end unit.
