Steve_Beattie
I thought the CIE loco came after the metrovick?? I could be wrong - will look. Added the buffers and some front end detail tonight - then realised the steam pipe should be as arrowed, and I've Araldited it in... Think the coupling shroud is a bit too pronounced resulting in a 'trout pout' but I'll see once it's painted. The buffers needed a fit of filling to fit inside the buffer stocks but the end result is quite pleasing. Camera still highlights areas needing touching up! Steve_Beattie
Co Bo on it's bogies testing clearance - need some day time pics but it does highlight areas I need to touch up.
Steve_Beattie
Priming, painting and headcode discs added. Advised that transfers are on their way so all that's left are the handrails and some tidying up and remedial detail. This is the boring side for once. Steve_Beattie
Electrification flashes or not? I'm modelling this loco as first built to run on a 'preserved railway' so it's feasible that warning flashes would be required? Last numbers being applied now and then some final quality day-time pics will be uploaded tomorrow.
Steve_Beattie
And complete - bar a little bit of remedial work! The test build over all went well I thought and everything happened pretty much as I designed it to do bar a few minor bits. However it did highlight a couple of areas where it's easy to go wrong and appart from a couple of silly knarly bits (Air tank and battery box set at an angle) they are fairly easy to rectify. Bits to consider: Ensure brake gear is not set too high. Top cranks on bearing shaft (end of bogie) should be level with top of bogie - mine are 1mm too high. Steam heating ipies should clear both bogies before returning - mine are to far outer and are catching Bo bogie brake gear. Also at cab ends, steam pipes should not return inwards to steeply but be again bent around the brake gear - keep to outer edges. That aside, any one who know's how to paint can do a better job then me! This loco will eventually be used as a demonstrator on my stand then cleaned up and sold. In time it will be replaced by a more carefully built version for my own personal collection. Until then I hope the build was of use to those building the kit and enjoy! Post your results! Next up: Class 24/1 Starting over the coming weekend.
