RMweb Premium Welly Posted May 6, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 6, 2016 Someone in France chased a train carrying a 300 tonne electric transformer to EDF in Le Havre. It is a big cradle wagon escorted by a single carriage and top and tailed by SNCF Fret diesel locos which looks like our 67s coupled via long wagons. Â The train runs slowly starting during the wee hours finally arriving in Le Havre well into daytime! Note that the bridge at Le Havre was closed to road traffic when the transformer train was passing through which suggested that the bridge was very close to the safe load limit! Â https://youtu.be/hPS7K200pdE Â This suggests the SNCF still have Common Carrier status.
eastwestdivide
Excellent. Looks like the 28-axle wagon in this thread (scroll down, French): http://forum.e-train.fr/viewtopic.php?p=948752&sid=0ed25c2d6f90a147711ed49822190109 Â Like the swing/lifting bridge about 19:

I can't believe that one person was able to keep on leap-frogging a train by following it in their car - even a slow train. Imagine all the time that would be used up by parking, selecting a filming point, then dashing off to the next station etc.
