The Night Riviera (OO & N gauge)

Recommended Posts

Happy Sunday :-)

Just a quick couple of queries

I'm looking at making a Night Riviera set (Mk3 coaches, dynamic lights livery), either OO or N or Both, having worked out the formation, the questions I'm left with now are...

A) I'm aware that Hornby do/did the Sleeper coaches, but did they ever release the other coaches in Night Riviera branding?

2) if no to the above, what coaches do I need to make a rough representation of the set? Buffet and TSO seems obvious but is there some kind of Mk3 BSO available rtr or do I need to go down the replacement sides route?

C) Are any of the coaches available in N gauge to make the set up?

4) if I was going for a representative set, are there any major external differences between LH Mk3's and HST ones apart from the buffers?

Cheers All

Dan :-)

I'm not sure Dominic is still able to do the Dynamic Lines transfers (Marston Parkway)

The buffet is nothing like the HST one, it has 7 large windows and a half window on one side (4 - space - half + 3) and 4 large windows plus a half and two narrow ones on the other side (4 + half - two narrow). The BFO is odd too because it has 8 windows on one side and 7 on the other, with a toilet one end. It also has tail lights built in to it either side of the gangway which don't flash.

Good luck buddy.

see AE101 for drawing of MK3b BFO on page 143

You could get a Hornby R4369 FO and do some filling in of the windows. But the door on the guards end has an extra section.

Shawplan do window frames to make good any conversion. Especial the half window and narrow windows  on the RFM
