wychcan
Has anyone got any thoughts into automating level crossing gates, driven by servo's, the 4 gates work fine, operated by a Megapoints controller. (Manually switched at present) So how do I now get these to be operated by the approaching trains? That is opening and closing after the train has passed though. This is a double track roundy roundy layout which could complicate the controls some what. Ideas and thoughts welcomed Nigel
tamperman36
One way would be reed switches and magnets (the old fashioned way) or micro switches.

Titan
Another option is: http://www.heathcote-electronics.co.uk/uk%20barrier%20crossing.html Will work with all combinations of gates/barriers.

LongRail
Express models make complete units which can be operated with reed switches or manually switched which is how I have them set up on my layout. I have also wired in my signalling system which uses heathcote electronic modules so that if the barriers are not down then a red signal is displayed
